The organization always looks good from a distance. When you get close ( regular attendence , field service, etc.) its style becomes apparent. Power and control. Methods and techniques to assure power and control. Unrightous coercion and extortion. Justifying dishonorable methods by pointing to honorable ends. Together these techniques are harmful to the members and unless one leaves one will will lose one's ability to make choices. Its similar to being in an abusive relationship and , despite the importunings of the abusive mate, once you see it clearly you must flee before you lose your ability to flee.

Bill Bowens Highjacked thread
by CC Ryder inbill bowen has started an organized effort to help innocent vicitms and their families to recover from the abuse they suffered and the way the wts has handled their cases.
he has started a thread to see if anyone among us here at jw.com would like to help in those efforts.. someone, who we are all familiar with, has disrupted bill's request with equally insensitive remarks and intent as that of the recently deactivated fred hall and bleep.
he states that he has the right to post anywhere and say anything he wants, well, hopefully simon has a different answer!.

Sometimes it is better to sacrifice our personal agendas for the greater good. It is obvious that Bill Bowen has steadily established that within the WT orb crimes have been committed against children. Why lose sight of that accomplishment and place a burden on this good man. He is trying to deal with the practical aspects of a movement that truly challenges the WTBTS. It is only natural that he organize the movement because it has evolved to the point of needing just that. In my opinion, at this time, it pretentious and premature to reduce to pedantics Bill Bowens call for help.

Bickering - how sad

it is so good to be out of the borg and not be troubled by borg-rules anymore and just do whatever i wanna do.

Yes the WTBTS manipulates the males by holding their wives as hostages. If the male does not "reach out" he risks the respect and trust of his wife. When the marriage breaks up the general consensus is that the "brother" brought it on himself. That feeling of injustice is motivating many to post here . This stuff goes on and on because the WTBTS is a government that is protected by the First Amendment. Basically it can do as it pleases and ,as a voluntary member, you will suffer the consequences. This forum meets them on their own ground and represents a voice of dissent. That's why the forum must be protected. It represents a "leaking in' of democracy . A cry for justice against this high control organization . The weapon of choice is "disfellowshiping". That weapon needs to be ignored by the membership and this forum offers that opportunity.

Belief and Non-belief are concepts. Together they are one way of looking at the world. Its important to understand that they both are the same. They are IDEAS. An alternative way of looking at the world is to get rid of IDEAS and just look. When this is accomplished, fear ceases and questions about Armageddon and belief become irrelevent. This does not mean you cannot participate in the acrobatics of idea juggleing . You can participate but you see ideas for what they are, limited symbols expressing , at best , relative but incomplete truths. Absolute truth can only be experienced directly, its what is , its LIFE.

With respect . I am concerned that Bill may be put at a disadvantage by answering this question at this time. His agreement with your statements would be admission of Apostacy and he has denied this all along. Of course he can speak for himself but I would not lose respect for him if he chose to avoid a direct answer at this time.
