well, to bring you guys up to speed, here is what happend this weekend.

i told my wife how i was feeling and why i didn't believe the wt was not god's org.

it went pretty bad.

I have read the comment made by truthseeker and it compels me to make a few remarks.

1. If you are really wanting to seek the direction of the organzation then why are you frequenting these forums?? It would appear you have another agenda.

2. I find your description of the senario a bit uncommon. Your wife leaves you and all that results is a visit by two in law's who arrive alone? This matter would immediately have attention from the elder body and they show up in two's.

3. If you want to be JW that is a choice, you are welcome to it as well as those who may make other choices. Make your choice and stick with it. Airing all on this forum seems a bit suspect at best.

4. Finally you wrote,

I have a problem with the way this letter is presented and how misinformation is being given on this topic. First the letter you are referring to is the March 1997 BOE letter. You can read it on the silentlambs website under "WT letters." The first comment you made was, "When I mentioned the child abuse stuff, he pulled out a letter written from the society explaining the procedure Elders are supposed to take when a child molester is found out in the Cong."

This letter was far more than a procedure letter. It was a direct contradiction of the 1-1-97 wt article that lead everyone to believe child molesters would never a positions of responsibility in the congregation. The BOE letter made clear provision for them to again be used subject to WT aproval. Did you miss the comment "individual are not to be quiried?" That comment alone allowed child molesters to not be questioned regarding their past.

You said,

DUH! I think it would be reasonable to state that any person would lose privileges if they confessed to child molestation. What if he does not confess? What if it has been a long period of time since he molested? Can he then requalify? This letter made provision for that to happen.

FOUL!!! Not so and in this comment you are revealed. At no place is this statement made in ANY BOE letter. This is a pure lie and purposely stated to misdirect those who read it. I encourage any who question the validity of this statement to read all the WT letters on this topic and try and find one shread of evidence to validate this statement. As Farkel mentioned authorities will be contacted only after consulting with Wt legal and ONLY if it is a required reporting state. There are 16 at this time that are reporting states. If you claim you read this statement then you have a conterfeit BOE letter. It was never written by WT. IF you did not then why are you making false statements about the child abuse issue??

Again this is a complete misstatement. Only a person who has confessed or been convicted at the mouth of two credible eye witnesses will have a letter written regarding their past. If they lie or do not have the two credible eye witnesses then they are free to move where ever they wish and remain anonymous. For the confessed child molester the above statement applies in the context of the elders watching them only. The congregation is not informed at any time of the presence of a confessed child molester who may move in. We now know we have 23,720 confired JW molesters who are having letters written when they move, how many do you think there are that fall in to the latter catagory?

For a person who appears to place so much emphasis on finding and keeping the "truth" why do you spend so much time with lies and misinformation? You appear to be something you are not.

Child Abuse/Neglect/Abandonment crosses all socio-economic boundaries, all cultures, and is present in all countries throughout the world.
It is a known fact that abuse effects children in critical long-term ways. Sexual abuse robs the victim of their innocence, their privacy, their self esteem and their worth and in many case their spirituality.

Eleven other Republican members agreed to multi-sponsor this legislation. The Democrat majority has not agreed to report A. 5361 out of the Codes Committee, chaired by Assemblyman Joseph Lentol. Therefore, Assemblyman Townsend respectfully urges people to write to Hon. Joseph Lentol, asking him to send this legislation to the floor for a vote.

FURTHERMORE:
We the undersigned urge Hon. Lentol and our appointed and elected representatives to pay serious attention to strengthening child abuse laws by passing a law with a 30 year extension or to totally eliminate the statute of limitations for prosecution of sexual offenders.

Allegedly the Oved family had Mossad (Israeli Secret Service) Connections and it has been widely touted in the "Truth" that it was a hit or Kidnapping against his father. I Have tramped in that country and find it extremely difficult to comprehend how he got where he was found. And if he got there of his own free will, How come he was not found much sooner.

My response to the email....

For a young man you certainly have some strong opinions. I encourage you to visit the silentlambs website, www.silentlambs.org and try and find any apostate material there. Silentlambs is a non profit organization founded for the benefit of JW victims of child molestation. If you review the victim’s pages you will find over 500 stories of those who were molested as jw children. IF reaching out to victims and offering them assistance is considered apostate then the definition has certainly been expanded to another level that I am not aware. I remain a jw in “good standing” and I speak with several brothers and sisters on a regular basis. I have no axe to grind with wt regarding doctrine or anything else other than how wt policy allows children to be hurt. I encourage you to educate yourself on this issue, read the sl website, read the boe letters, read the comments from those who speak for jw’s, if you do you will find a problem that needs to be addressed. Use the youthful energy you have to help children, pioneer, or reach out in the congregation do not waste it insulting fellow brothers and sisters who are trying to help those who suffer in silence.

As many of you may recall I posted the following update about two weeks ago:

"I am happy to discontinue the Dateline Update due to the closeness of the program. Dateline, is a good organization and doing their best to be fair and remain neutral when it comes to reporting the story. I agreed to working with the process for the simple reason, to let the truth be known. I believe Dateline will follow that standard in the reporting of this story. I also believe WT will use any type of strategy to hide the truth and manipulate words to their advantage. This is plainly evident in the comments of JR Brown and Mario Moreno to the press in the last year. That is proof in hard copy of WT tactics. I believe WT has tried to manipulate Dateline from the beginning with how they have stated facts and their response to telling the story. Yet I still hold true to the belief that the truth will not be hidden in this matter and the public will be able to clearly see it. I have been asked by Dateline to not reveal all that I know about the story and the circumstances surrounding it. I intend to honor that request. Yet from the information that I am aware of, I believe we will know something very soon.

Is that my word of honor that I will know something in four days? Absolutely not, nothing is absolute and even when we have an air date, something can always pre-empt a program at the last minute. What if the show was set to air on 9-12-01 ? Do you think it would have aired? If it did, do you think anyone would have remembered it? So just bear in mind this is all a process we have to work with. I am very happy with the professional manner in which Dateline has handled this delicate topic and I believe the intended result will happen. The public, as well as Jehovah’s Witnesses will be educated about a problem that is hurting children. The leadership of the organization will be pressured to respond and do what is morally and ethically right. Victims will have closure, children will be better protected, and we will have Dateline to thank for helping the truth to come out.

If I could say one thing about this matter, direct your frustration toward WT for causing this problem to begin with and failing to respond and using their own theocratic system involving spiritual warfare to manipulate the media to their advantage. On the other hand, let Dateline know we appreciate their efforts and offer them our support for the commitment, money, time and effort devoted to making this story happen. It is going to happen and very soon.

I continue to stand behind these comments and nothing has changed to date in that regard. The program is completely finished and we are simply waiting for an airdate. I have been assured it has not been shelved for a later date. So we take it day by day and expect to hear something very soon. Some have said I am the most hated "witness in good standing." Read the sl website and you will get some background as to why some might make that statement. If I could offer a definition; I am the founder of a support group for Jehovah's Witnesses who were victims of child molestation. We try to bring healing and closure to those who suffer in silence due to the administration of WT policy. We require wt policy to change in the interests of protecting children.

It is interesting a brother called wt legal and asked if bill bowen was df just last Friday. The brother replied, "Bill stepped aside as an elder but he is not df or da." The brother then stated, "You mean he can say all he says on his website and just go to the meetings like any other witness??" Legal replied, "Yes, I guess that is true."

I invite anyone to ask themselves, if what the sl website has to say is apostate lies as many claim then why am I still standing? Could it be we are telling the truth?
