Disfellowshipped for being complicit in someone else's sin - really?!
by Isambard Crater ina close friend of mine who is pimo (only staying in for family reasons) in a neighboring congregation called me in tears tonight saying her dad (elder) is telling her he is seriously considering reporting her to her local elders and she could get disfellowshipped.. the reason?
because she is complicit in a gross sin, according to him, by going with her best friend (not a j.w.
) when the friend had an abortion.

Do You Have Any Indoctrinated Guilt Left Over?

@ PE
I too voted today - my second time. First time was last year - over Brexit.
I parked up in a nearby parking lot and as I was walking toward the local parish hall, I quickly glanced around to see if there were JW's lurking on the streets before entering to cast my vote - silly really.

What is the most bizarre counsel you received as a JW, from a JW?
by Funchback inthere were many addressed to me.
for example, i once had a sister tell me i was gambling because i liked playing skill crane (the machine where you have to try to pick up prizes like stuffed animals) at the arcade.
i then fired back a her: "you saw the r-rated movie 'backdraft.

... These are not just "rules" from the religion. These are views of meddling and jealous individuals who will end up making your life miserable if you don't act on or follow their unwanted advice ...
Spot on LHG. Like many others, I too was on the receiving end of some other people's unwanted 'advice' - more like unfounded criticism. To my shame I kept quiet and sucked it up for far too long.

Will there ever be an apology from GB for going beyond what's written ?
by Chook injust a simple " we are sorry " .

I think a person will have more chance of being struck by lightning than ever receiving an apology from the governing body.

Welcome to the forum, Silent Knight.
Yes, this is a great forum and it has helped me in many ways too. Each of us are on our own personal journey, some further down the road than others, to becoming free from the shackles of the org.
Wishing you all the best for your journey and looking forward to reading your postings.

Thank you for your post and a belated welcome from me.
I am sincerely glad that your immediate family is reunited. It just goes to show how the Org breaks up families with their lies and deceit. Not to mention how all of us were at one time 'sleepwalking' through our entire association with the Org.
PS: strong families build strong communities, and strong communities build strong nations.

This Weekend's Watchtower Study "What You Vow, Pay" from April issue
by BluesBrother injust some random thoughts here... theme scripture is matt.5: 33 .
we already had a thread explaining that jesus added a "but" after those words.
however, few would argue against the principle of keeping one's word.

The reason for this WT is because about a year ago they made everyone pledge what they could give them monthly and now they are calling in these pledges with a guilt trip ... Brokeback Watchtower
Forgive the pun however, you are right on the money!
