I've been inactive and haven't been to meetings for going on 3 years. Has my name / reputation been maligned?
I don't know; and to be honest, I couldn't care.
as we all know, witnesses routinely share in gossiping, slandering or maligning the name and reputation of those who are "spiritually weak" or ones who "fade" or "stop associating".. they feel it is ok to speak badly of such ones who "have left jehovah's organization".. of course, some of the worst perpetrators of this are elders and their wives, who insidiously plant negative stories in the minds of all they interact with in the congregation.
they may never have actual facts, but since when do facts matter to witnesses?
however through such conduct they manage to separate people from one another, or cause rifts amongst former friends.. this sort of conduct is plainly inappropriate.. but what scriptures could be used if the opportunity arose to confront such ones about the way they have behaved?.

I'm in the Midland region
i came across this very informative and thought provoking video.
it was produced by marc and cora latham, who are quite well known among british activists.. if you have 15 minutes to spare, i encourage you to watch it.
it certainly gave me pause for thought!.

exjw's of a certain age will remember randy's site well.
freeminds was instrumental in waking me up along with ray franz's books.
if net soup and armageddon okies mean nothing to you you're probably under 30.. whatever caused randy to post what he did recently is something i can only guess at but it won't be what i remember him for.. randy, i wish you well and thank you for all you've done over the years .
... I mean, I LOL'd when I saw one poster on here claim that they had never heard of Randy Walters. Man, that is WEAK by Apostate standards! ... WingCommander
Sorry WingCommander, but I too had not heard of Randall Watters until just recently. How could I? It's only these past two years that I have been inactive and only the past 5 months that I have been looking at / participating on so called 'apostate websites'.
Having said the above, I am now beginning to understand and realise that Randall Watters is one of the original 'trail blazers' exposing a number of their erroneous teachings.
I certainly admire his work!
in appreciation of david bowie who died a year ago today.
also to george michael and all the other less famous people ( mouthy, school friend.
my aunt.
Personally I'm into rock music. The passing of Rick Parfitt, rhythm guitarist with Status Quo, is a blow to the world of music as well.
Read the news last night and learnt that another musician passed away - Peter Sarstedt. One of his major hit songs was; Where Do You Go To (My Lovely).
on a previous post mamacita29 pointed up the low quality of new jw converts.. is the quality falling even more as the society use lower than low meeting, talks, broadcasts etc.. when i was active initially the organisation and standards seemed totally different today.
i have seen hard working intelligent elders fall by death or exhaustion.
the younger generation that came along never really grasped responsibility hence shortage of good elders, never mind the watered down to almost nothing quality of meetings.
JWdaughter ... summed it up ^^^^^
Post of the week, in my book.
vigil help for burney man who died after being set on fire.
community members shared their memories of wicks, a member of the jehovah's witness hall in burney.
many of them remember him from his post at the shell station, where he worked along with his wife.
This is truly horrific. I have no other words to describe it.
R.I.P. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
l don't visit very often now , but l wanted to drop in to wish all you folks a merry christmas and happy new year .
as l cannot find a thread already started for this l have started one !
in the immortal words of chuck berry ( l think ) " come on everybody " join in wishing your fellow posters a merry christmas , happy holidays etc .
The tree is up, the gifts are wrapped,
The annual bonuses have all been scrapped.
When the credit card companies say, "Payment due!"
All they'll get is, "Merry Christmas to you!" ........ GreatTeacher
LOL .... That's brilliant. I must definitely remember this.
Best wishes to you all over the festive season.
been away for a couple of months as i felt that i needed a break.
during this period i completed reading a book (fiction), titled; conclave - authored by robert harris.
there is a very interesting sentence in the book which got me thinking.

There is a very interesting sentence in the book which got me thinking. Some people choose to lead a simplified life, and there is nothing wrong with it in itself. However, when it is "forced upon you" by the so called "recommendation" of the Org to be "no part of the world" and in effect denying yourself some of the many pleasures of life, then in my view it is an issue.
With the above in mind, I was wondering what your thoughts are on this sentence / quote in the book - page 25.
An excess of simplicity, after all, was just another form of ostentation, and pride in one's humility a sin.
that admission in the feb.17 ,study edition of the watchtower , " who is leading gods people today ?
" "the governing body is neither inspired, nor infallible, therefore it (they/we) can err in doctrinal matters or in organizational direction .".
have the many jehovahs witnesses past and present who have lost their lives by refusing blood transfusions due to the prohibition on blood tranfusions by jehovahs witnesses really got the sense of this statement ?.
I just took a look at that article. Wow, it seems like they are putting less efforts in finding good arguments supporting their authority.. or is it just me?
Paragraph 12: We are not perfect, so we need to make changes on a regular basis.
Paragraph 13: The changes we make on a regular basis prove we have God's Spirit.
Paragraph 14: Our organization is successful with 8 million members: It has to be the angels!
Paragraph 15: We made unpopular rules like disfellowshipping smokers. We have to be directed by God!!
Now what if the Catholics used these arguments?
Paragraph 12 and 13: same, word for word.
Paragraph 14: Our organization is successful with 1.5 billion members: It has to be the angels!
Paragraph 15: We made unpopular rules like banning contraception. We have to be directed by God!!
Like Mike (Mike and Kim) would say "Idiots!". ..... Stephane Laliberte
I have faded from the Org over a little over 3 years now. From which date of Watchtower Magazine did this come from? Where can I get a copy of it - download if possible.
