Happy Australia Day .

made a big mistake of talking about being raised as a jehovah's witness to some old friends and family.
people have told me that i am still a jws even though i've never been baptized.
i'm in school for social services, dealing with student loan debt, and a lot of other debt.
Joliette Carla makes some good points . Joining a charitably organisation means being with people who care for people, not something that the WT is known for.
Hi Carla . It's nice to meet someone who gets what l was saying . As we know people at church don't because of their experience in church and people on here who are ex JWs don't because of their experience with a cult.
No disrespect intended guys it just is hard to get your head around someone else's experience .

Joliette as l said l am a life long Anglican and believe me my church is nothing like the WT . I know that a lot of folk here think that they are all the same but my experience is totally different.
I thought that l knew about JWs until l came on here and tbh it took me a long time to get my head around all the information on here . It took me a while to understand the mind control that kept people in the Org .
When l try to talk to others in my church about the WT they think that l am being nasty because they don't get the way that members are manipulated.
As to a " get in " just look up your local Baptist , Methodist, Anglican church and contact the Vicar , Pastor etc .
I feel that you are making excuses, perhaps the WT teaching about Christendom is putting you off . If so then they are still controlling you .

most jws are restricted to letter writing ministry right now.
of course i've heard a load of highly dubious 'encouraging experiences' about it already.. but what i'm wondering is how these letters are actually being received and what effect they are really having?.
i also find it disturbing that jws are being told to put their home address on the letters they send out.
I received one but the address on it was for the local Kingdom Hall , although the writer did sign her name .
It finished with " If you would like to respond to this letter you may do so at the above address ( KH ) or on [email protected] "
I did respond on the email option ( l started a thread about this and put the response there ) but had no reply .
I live in Tamworth UK .

Joliette l don't know where you are . I do know that in England there are charities that can help with sorting out debt . This may be true in other countries . I am sure that practical help is out there that could help you get back in control .
I still think that professional help in the form of counselling is needed and joining a different church would be better

Juliette l am female . I have never been a JW so l don't know the hold that this cult can have over people .
I am a life long Anglican and l agree with the people who are saying that you need professional help and if you want a faith based support system join another faith community. Just please get some proper help . You sound really depressed and going back into the WT now really won't help.

today l received a hand written letter from my local kingdom hall .
l say my local as the one nearest me , for those who don't know me l am not nor have ever been a jw .
as this letter was addressed " to the householder " l assume that everyone in the area ( tamworth , staffordshire ) has been sent one .
Thank you for your reply Heather . Like you l am not really expecting an answer , but as you say maybe the person reading it ( l would guess an elder ) may have a bit of a think .
Have you been able to talk to your friend about this ? Does the person already belong to a church or has this come right out of the blue ?

l have just replied ,via email , to the letter .
l looked on JW Facts and some stuff came up about 1975 . l have had some doorstep discussions with JWs about this and one lady has admitted to me that she and her husband actually cashed in an insurance policy and handed over the money to aid the " last minute " preaching frenzy . Of course they never got that back when nothing happened .
So I decided to go with this . Here is wot l rote .
Thank you for writing to me . If you are contacting everyone in ...... , if not all of Tamworth then that is quite an undertaking .
To be honest l have never considered becoming a Jehovah's Witness for a few reasons . As someone who is not in the first flush of youth l seem to remember some teaching about the end of the world in 1975 . l do know a little bit about the bible and l do know that Jesus said that " No one knows the day or the hour , only the Father " So it bothers me that Jehovah's Witnesses tried to predict the time that the end would come . As it didn't happen surely this was a false prophecy .
l left it at that and we will see if anyone replies . l tried to be fairly vague and not sound as if l knew too much . l have made note of quotes from JW publications to back up my statements if they are needed .
Btw HB as you can see l am in Tamworth in the Midlands , are you in a different area ?

Thank you NewLight99 , that is very helpful . From being on this site or a while now l have become aware of much of this but l do need to be able to quote " chapter and verse " to back up any facts that l give .

Thanks for the replies , all very useful . I have looked at your letter Smiddy3 , and made notes .
Anna Marina l have never been near a Kingdom Hall , l am an active member of my local Anglican church.
NewLight99 can you give any references in WT literature to show that they did worship Christ until the 1950s ? l don't have any old publications to reference .
When l received the letter yesterday l did a very quick check and found three other people who received them , 2 in my street and one other in a different part of town . So possibly the JWs have sent a lot of these letters , maybe to everyone . Yes they were sent through the post with 2nd class stamps .
