Stan , yes people do generally see JWs as a bit weird but harmless. Which of course is how they present themselves on doorsteps . It's all a very carefully worked out con by the GB .

i know i have made some uncomfortable at times and others have thanked me for telling them about the cult because some family member is one and they thought it was a bad cult but did not know details.
personally i take every chance i get to tell others about the cult.

As a never JW l don't have to worry about that DoC . I do try to tell people but sometimes they seem to think l am being nasty and exaggerating. This happens a lot with my fellow church goers because they just can't get their heads around what l describe .
Others have difficulty seeing the WT as a cult because people have a fixed idea of what a cult looks like . Obviously brainwashed weirdos all together in a large commune .
Maybe that is how they suck folk in because they don't appear to be a cult

a letter from a jw arrived the other day.
nothing remarkable.
i wondered why i was sent the letter?
I did write back , details on another thread, but obviously got no reply as l didn't show interest in joining the org and actually asked awkward questions . I just hope that at some time in the future when something has happened to make the recipient have doubts they may remember my questions.
It see to me that often the turning point is when something personal happens , being treated unfairly or seeing an elder get let off with something that you have been in trouble for etc .
Just maybe then a letter sent outlining flip flops or inconsistencies in doctrine may be remembered.

As Ding said they have been letter writing on a large scale to get time in . I had one ( England) and most people l know got one. People in the USA got them as well , don't know where you are .

gen 1: 11 says: .
11 then god said, βlet the earth sprout [j]vegetation, [k]plants yielding seed, and fruit trees on the earth bearing fruit according to [l]their kind [m]with seed in themβ; and it was so.
12 the earth produced [n]vegetation, [o]plants yielding seed according to [p]their kind, and trees bearing fruit [q]with seed in them, according to [r]their kind; and god saw that it was good.
I'm with Blues Brother on this .

it seems that g. jackson got confused during his presentation relating to jesus and his going to magadan.
( check out lloyd evans "magadangate") but the jw community seems very hesitant and quiet on this apparent "faux pas".
has anyone had any feedback from jw's that you know on this or are they just sweeping it under the carpet as being nothing of particular note?.
Ah that makes sense . Thanks

I don't understand why Mr Jackson is talking about having to decide what Jesus said where . I've read all the accounts again and can't see any sense to the question

other n t prayers:.
the lord's prayer.. .
the tax collector's prayer.. .
A broad answer l think is that the WT side lines Jesus as much as possible because the Org. wants to be seen as the only intermediary between man and Jehovah . Thus keeping its power over people.
