LongHairGal I'm not sure what you have been reading but as a woman in a mainstream religion that has not been my experience. I am on the PCC of my local church which is a pretty even split of men to women .

I do the readings and prayers once a month at my preferred church service - Evensong .

I was on my own for a couple of years when l was widowed and that status made no difference to what l was " allowed " to do .

I am curious are you American ?

what is everyone doing for thanksgiving and christmas?

we are having thanksgiving dinner at my nieces house.

British so don't do Thanksgiving. For Christmas my hubby and l are going to my eldest Granddaughter's with my daughter and her partner and my youngest Granddaughter. Oh plus Barry the Shitzu puppy who hasn't seen a Christmas tree yet , should be fun .

how witnesses were told that armageddon was coming in the fall of that year.

Thank you to Anna Marina and Waton . My little brain is totally boggled by all this. I'm pretty sure that the average Witness simply gives up trying to keep track , which might be part of the cunning plan.

Slidin , yes l did . Although to be really proper yorkies go with beef . Standards have slipped of late and most people do include them on any roast .

Yes, a good British roast dinner . Lamb. roast potatoes, roasted parsnip , carrots, peas ( any veg ) , mint sauce. Yum .

Ya'll know now that l am an Anglican. My perspective is that people who attend my church, l mean my individual church , are all there because they want to be ( odd l know 😂 ) .

How many JWs still attend meetings because they are scared not to go , or guilted into it by family members. That doesn't count .
