study watchtower november 2023 p. 13 par.
19 - "jesus foretold: “you will be hated by all the nations on account of my name.” (matt.
so true christians would be hated because of the name of jesus, not jehovah????.
So the Study Watchtower is still different to the Watchtower handed out to the public ?

are we living in the prophetic last days that will climax into armageddon?
if this is true then how long should it take?
as jw saw it, wt compared timing to within a generation using 70 ad as a parallel.
Stoke Poges ? Are you telling me that it actually exists? I thought that it was just myth like El Dorado.
I remember some people thinking that Russia was where Armageddon would begin . Surely we should simply live our lives as if tomorrow was to be our last day and not indulge in idle speculation. The Bible warns against such things .

Lastmanstanding why does it have to be about America. ?
We don't know when the last days will be only The Father knows .
Punky l once quoted the death and taxes thing to someone who replied , seriously
" Oh not really , I've ordered some that didn't turn up "

most of us know what theocratic warfare means but maybe very few people reading this forum might never heard of theocratic warfare.
can you give them some examples of theocratic warfare?
.
So will a rank and file JW lie about lying ?
I once brought the subject up on Quora and an angry JW told me that basically l was talking rubbish.

job 26:7 he stretches out the northern sky over empty space, well should it be the southern that has empty space under it?.
the north pole has the earth under it?.
the south pole has empty space under it?.
Bible writers talked about mountains and trees praising God . In Isaiah 55 mention is made of " trees clapping their hands " . Now no one can think that even then people believed that trees had hands or mountains had voices . Do those verses prove that they did think that ? No .

Nicolaou , well as has been pointed out things like Jesus walking on water were counted as miracles because people knew that scientifically this was impossible.

Yes Punky , as you say theologians disagree. I think for what it's worth that the Bible, old and new , is about the relationship between God and man . I understand that some Jews see many layers to Torah. It's not meant to be principally a history or science book .

I agree with road to nowhere , a lot of poetic license was used in the Bible. We present day folk tend to think of the ancients as ignorant goat herders. However archaeologists have found a lot of artefacts that prove otherwise.
Hubby and l watch a programme about strange items that have been found that puzzle historians. There is often speculation about the purpose of these items but for many it's usually the consensus that they are scientific in nature .
It does appear that even Bronze Age man knew a lot more than they are given credit for.

i was wondering about the jw attitude towards getting tattoos.. redditors suggest that the only jws who have them would have got them before they were baptised.. jw.org gives a meally-mouthed "true christians wouldn't" response.. but no-one (that i've seen so far) answers the question i'm actually asking: is getting a tattoo after being baptised a disfellowshipping offence?.
if not disfellowshipable, how would a typical jw congregation treat someone who got a tattoo after baptism?
would they really treat it like it is a conscience issue?.
Well it shows how we all make assumptions about others " judging books by their covers " Because, obviously, l am one of the nicest people ever .
Mine is a pretty bird and can only be seen in public when l wear a swimming costume. However my daughter and two granddaughters have ones that show . My daughter is a national manager with BT , a major company in the UK . My eldest Granddaughter works in payroll for a local bus company and the youngest is just off to uni .
Going back to the actual discussion didn't Jesus say that it's not what's on the outside but what goes on inside that counts ?
Why people who already have tatts should have to remove them is beyond me . Except that maybe having a tattoo shows a degree of individualism that won't be tolerated by the Org.
