As a Cof E member who is happy to listen to or read teaching from Catholics , Baptists etc to get a full spectrum of thought on the Bible and it's interpretaton I have always felt that if you look at Jesus' teaching including the parable of the faithful and UNFAITHFUL slave we are meant to live each day as if it is the last . We are told that Jesus came to give life eternal and TO THE FULL and I think that we should live a full life each day with Him and not worry about times and dates .

This thread is very interesting to me as a never JW who tries to anti-witness . I am always surprised and saddened that the JWs at my door are surprised when someone actually engages them about the Bible . Fernando your comment about the fact that in 40 years no-one had anything useful to offer you does not surprise me but does depress me . I hope that more people post about things that made them think , though this seems a rare occurance . I understand the point made that the individual needs to be at the right point in their life before they will listen , but any experiences would be interesting to read

then what do the gb get out of all this?.
tim cook (ceo apple) makes around 378 million a year.. donald trump makes around 60 million a year.. i understand the wbts may have vast property holdings, stocks, bonds, and revenue from donations.. but i can't grasp the incentive for the gb to make this stuff up.

I'm with DoC , those in the writing and teaching depts. must know that the very fact that they have to twist facts and quotes surely shows that they know that what they are defending is wrong .

~Humble and Childlike~
by freeflyingfaerie inyou remember the 'encouragement' to be teachable, humble, like little children.... well, children ask questions, and lots of 'em.... so, what happens when we keep on wondering and have questions that demand answers?.
according to jw's, a person has to stop being teachable like little children.
a person is told not to do any real research (which requires humility, a sense of wonder, and openness to new ideas and concepts)....for fear that research done outside of the organizations approved sources- their own- a person may discover contradictions and lies.

Americanboy , I have never been a JW but Jesus is CENTRAL to my life , which as JWfacts points out is not the case for JWs , Jesus is demoted by Watchtower teachings .When I read the Bible , especially the New Testament Jesus is given the most important place in salvation . Please do not feel that you personally are being attacked on this forum .We all give our own thoughts and experiences and can all learn from each other .
