LGH , their treatment of women really does seem appalling. I remember talking to an Elder about the Bible and he was so dismissive. I thought then that it was just because l wasn't a JW but l realise now it was also because l am a woman .

disfellowshipping never really bothered me.
i always thought it was just another way of getting rid of members that weren't welcome anymore.. but i've changed my mind.

So did you join the WT for a while ?
I gained an interest in JWs during doorstep chats when l realised how screwed some of their doctrine, not to mention their methods , are .
I actually learned a lot myself because sometimes l knew what they were saying was wrong but couldn't show them precise Biblical evidence to prove it .
So l dug deeper to find answers to their erroneous arguments.

LHG , you have mentioned a couple of times the help that churchianity gives to people in need and how some JWs end up needing that help .
In my town. not far from me , is a place set up by the working together of a Christian charity and the local church to help young homeless people ( 16 - 25 ) . They provide accommodation and life lessons , like money management , as well as helping find work and permanent homes.
I know for a fact that at least one young man from a JW family has needed their help . I didn't find this out from TCHA but from his own grandmother, a local JW . She really didn't see the irony of this .

Yes LGH , like Pete l meant no offence . However it would seem that JWs don't plan for old age and do seem to expect their children to take care of them . Which seems silly as everyone is encouraged to take low paid jobs or part time jobs and probably struggle to take care of themselves let alone other people.

I think that not shunning children for the selfish reason that you might need their help when you get old isn't valid .
You choose to have children , they don't choose to be born or to have you as parents . What emotional damage does it do to those children to have their parents turn their backs on them ?

Truth you haven't answered my question . You obviously aren't going to engage with people , just criticise .
I'm not asking you to believe something just because l say it . Although that is the WT way . I'm asking if you have done any independent research or just believed the WT without testing what they say .

Hi , lm a life long Anglican, so part of what you seem to hate .
Where do you get your info about Christendom ? From the WT ? Do you simply believe everything that the WT tells you or have you looked into stuff for yourself? If you are a good JW then you won't have done that, because it's not allowed is it . So you're in a catch 22 situation . " Believe what we say , because we say it , and don't check it out because we don't allow it "
