i have been on m any different forums, and only carm is similar to this.. all the rest have rather hypocritical trust in god.. this and carm are for those who apostate to the wtbs and to god.. turned off by the gb, or hypocritical examples in the congregation, they drop worshiping god and their belief in the bible... for they know too much,.
that's why scripture isn't discussed, and jws like me, are demonized.. i am cool with that!
maybe some of you will come to their senses!.
In Corinth the problem seems to be with the congregation members and a few trying to spread false teaching and hijack the congregation. They had been and were getting good teaching from Paul and the others who were basically running the whole show.
In the case of the WT the false teaching and prophesies ( 1975 for one ) are coming from the top . IMHO .

a balanced view of jesusâ role.
like those in christendom, the early bible students mistakenly allowed their love for jesus to overshadow their relationship with jehovah.
beginning in 1919, however, they came to see that jehovah and their relationship with him should be the focus of their worship.
So back to Doubting Thomas's salvation by works then . This is a theme in the WT- having to prove yourself worthy . Of course it serves to make JWs fully compliant with everything that they are told.

Long live , Jesus was asked " who is my neighbour? " He then told the story of the Good Samaritan making it clear that ANYONE in need is our neighbour. Not just other people who are like us . Now that's not just people in other countries who are in the same religious group as us . Jews and Samaritans were very much at odds with each other.
Does the WT encourage charity towards people who are not JWs ? Truly .

Punky, it's been said ( and repeated by me ) that the way the Org has been set up is such that anyone leaving it will lose faith.
Some , like you , do try mainstream churches but even then most seem to end up atheistic. As l said elsewhere it's an " if we can't have you , no one will " attitude .
Thomas, you seem good at dropping into threads , being caustic to people then moving on . Will you explain to me which place of ignorance l was coming from when l asked about JW healthcare in America. I would like to be put right if l was wrong in my assumptions.
Also l am curious as to which bits of JW doctrine you do find correct as you seem to want to defend the Org. against criticism while criticising it yourself .

key scripture 2 timothy 3:16 should have been translated as âevery scripture inspired of god is also profitable for teachingâ like many other serious translations (such as american standard version ; douay-rheims bible etc) as it is what the greek text says.. this is in harmony with the contents of bible and also with the writer paul himself who knew after his departure âeven from his own number men will arise and distort the truth.â (acts 20:29-30) for example, verses such as romans 7:19 is such distortion.
such verses cannot originate from real paul who was âholy, righteous and blameless.â (1 thessalonians 2:10) hence paul had the freeness of speech to tell others to be âblamelessâ like him (1 thessalonians 5:19-23; ephesians 5:24) there are many things in the scriptures which are not inspired such as words of satan, words of jobâs wife and his false friends, words of judas, lotâs daughters âŚetc.
apostle peter never disowned jesus because if he had done so, his contemporaries would have interrupted him when he rebuked jews, saying: âyou disowned the holy and righteous one and asked that a murderer be released to you.â (acts 3:14) his listeners would have asked him âwhat right do you have to reprove us for âdisowning jesusâ when you yourself have done it first?â all such verses or accounts were later adoptions.
Abraham1 having looked at the verse that you questioned in the interlinear 2 Tim : 3-l6 l feel that it can support what you say is the wrong translation. I won't say that taking it alone it does support it but it could .

I think that this says it nicely . Hence we are saved by faith to do good works .The WT pushes this idea that salvation is earned because it helps them demand total obedience to the Org. It suits their agenda to keep people scared that they aren't " good enough " if they don't do everything that they are told to do . Jan
