The oxfam study is very revealing. For the top 1" of the world to control that much wealth is staggering. In the US for example just in post recession (2009 and on), the top 1% of earners have also gotten 95% of the welath generated in this time period. Really? That is amazingly terrible. In addition, 90% of Americans became "poorer" meaning their money went the other direction. The US also has the dubious distinction of having the largest gap in income inequality int he developed world.....and growing.

Bitcoin and these things are not the answer in my mind. A systemic change needs to be made to foster a middle class.

today's watchtower lesson touched on the history of hezekiah's reign, and then made a surprising modern-day application.

having used my time before the meeting to research the underlying material instead of highlighting my magazine, i personally found this to be an upsetting study, and decided to put this warning here in the hopes that some active witnesses read it.. the most important thing i want to say to you is that the actual flow of events in this bible account were severely misrepresented, and that there are some disturbing implications in the distortions that were made.

1. hezekiah's father ahaz makes himself a vassal to assyria out of fear of their overwhelming might (2 kings 16:7, 8).. 2. upon becoming king, hezekiah rebels against assyria (2 kings 18:7).

I think the facebook groups and other places have a very high ratio of crazy JW to "normal". The grammar suggests english as a second language. Another person didn't capitalize Jehovah on a one sentence response.....I don't know.

I don't think that is representative of what most or even 98% of JW's would do.

There are two kinds of former JW's. The ones that go to memorial, and the ones than don't. I am trying to get my wife to make the jump with me this year, to the "don't" catagory.

But once you stop going to the Memorial......the cat is extra out of the bag on you.

Governing Body Running Scarred and 12-13-14 "Might Be the End"?

this went bad, i hit click before i could post my thoughts about the fear factor going through our crazy kingdom hall.

the title of this thread was aimed at asking why the governing body is becoming so afraid and demanding the elders and rank and file to put their trust in the dukes of the kingdom hall.

I would really be curious to know what facebook group was responsible for that mess of a thread. I honestly think it doesn't represent the majority of JW's. Not even close. And to suggest 12-13-14 is some kind of significant date to JW's is also I think a stretch.

I realize I have more contact with the more "normal" JW's than many here, but sheesh.

Plus, this mess about the Judeo-masonic something or other....I mean.....I can't.

typically i check this site on my smart phone and cannot post one single letter, but i really enjoy reading your thoughts and experiences especially those that involve anti-witnessing or when jdubs come to your door, so keep them coming.. .

lately, i have been serving as a duly elected public official in my home county in fl, and attempting to make up for lost time getting my college education.

i am 3 years in, only have one year left, and i will officially be a registered nurse.

Noah - the Movie

went to the movie theatre over the weekend to take in jack ryan (not bad) and saw the trailer for "noah" (russell crowe and a solid cast) whats the bet the dubs will be given a rule encouraged to examine their own consciences when attending this movie.

from what i hear its fairly true to the genesis account, but hey its hollywood with cgi at their disposal.. .

my guess is they will not be allowed to go until the gb 2.0 attend a screening at loews cineplex, grab some popcorn and pop and give it their blessing..

Without knowing more its hard to say. You can use the search function on this site, and find more information that you would know what to do with on each of those subjects. For every person, there is a different trigger. I could car less about wether Sodum and Gohmorrah will or will not be resurrected and what was taught. When I was in apologetics for JW's, that would not have even registered. But blood.......that got me.

2014 Yearbook Stats - 7 Countries account for > 50% growth

i thought i'd share the 2014 yearbook stats.

i converted the file to excel format & sorted the increase in publisher's column from largest to smallest.

as i suspected, the growth is limited to a very few # of "lands.

So in the top 15, there are no European countries or even Asian countries.

There are 6 south american countries, 6 African countires (Congo? I didn't see that coming), and then there is Mexico, the US, and Phillipines (Pac islanders).

Slovakia! What the heck happened in Slovakia? Anyone know? That kind of decrease hs to be related to an event of some kind.
