Elder: I threw out all WT & Awake and only keep the last ten years...
by adjusted knowledge ini had a recent conversation with an elder from my mother's congregation.
he with another elder was at my mom's house.
my mother has all the bound volumes for both the awake and watchtower plus most of the older books.

Hey Terry thank you for the research as always. Just a couple questions so I am clear.
1) Are you ultimately sugggesting that the "abstain from blood" written by Luke, is basically analgous to "don't murder"? If that is the case, in the repeated statement, Luke ends it with "Good health to you". While I wouldn't rule it out, a refference to a dietary restriction plainly spelled out in the Noachian creed, doesn't seem to lend itself to murder as much as it does respect for life no?
2) Do you feel that a refference to the concepts of the Jews regarding Gentiles taking up the 7 main laws would have any bearing on a JW's mindset? Would they not easily dismiss it?
3) The message bible does a good job of paraphrasing, but it also does not give the idea that murder is the thing to be obstained from. Perhaps I am missing a point, or read past it too quickly.
Thanks again! I am fancinated by this doctrine, since it is the thing that finally got me to WAKE UP.

Well done man. I know the seeds of alchoholism are in my family, but not until fairly recently did it occur to me that I was drinking pretty often.
So I went on a diet to try to get back into shape, and booze had to go. When I had my cheat meal, 3 weeks in.....I had some beer, and it really made me feel kind of gross.
So depending on my fitness level, who knows if I will ever go back! I can only imagine 6 months!
I find if I hit the gym hard.....my cravings that pop up go away.

I Have A Problem With the Shepherding Kids article on Cedars Blog

My wife is finally facing the fact she would rather have our son not raised a JW then raised as one.
Its a relief.
With your kids SLO, just be real and truthfull. They have some anger because of the way you raised them....well join the party. We all are mad at our parents for SOMETHING. Fortunately, you got them out now!

That article reflects something that didn't strike me as overly odd until having been away from the cloud for a while.
If you are rank and file in the org, you are ALWAYS wrong. Even when you are right, you are wrong to run ahead. Someone tells an elder something you elegedly did, but didn't apply to counsel to go to you first? Doesn't matter. Lets talk about you. They were just concerned for your well being.
Elder giving the sheep a good rodgering? Jehovah will sort it out.
Its not that things are getting insane, its that YOU need to be more patient and long suffering.
That mind set is perfectly reflected in the counsel in that article.
My favorite is when the older guy whos life story is in the WT remembers when Rutherford gave him some counsel. Later, Rutherfordgives him a hearty HELLO!, and because the brother is still a little peeved he doesn't return his enthusiasm. What!? Well Rutherford tells him straight away to not make a place for the devil.
Good grief.

Yeah.....I told her with the bag on my head and a voice scrambler maybe.......then saying that out loud made me sad.
I think there are some who have just left, basically nothing left to lose, and they will end up doing it.
She was nice. They are looking for people making changes, along with the family things, the personal problems (hard to make friends), and all the other stuff that goes with it. Imagine leaving a super deep Mormon family. How about Islam? Becoming an athiest in a born again christian family. All of that transition stuff. Not just JW's, although if they do it right, they might have a spin off.
