You may not be far off with Stockholm Syndrome. You begin to identify with your captors after all. When you wake up, and still have to attend, you are "captive". You need to do what you think is best of course. Just try to leave your bosy. Better yet get a smart phone and play candy crush with the sound off. is that what the kids do now-a-days? Seriously, it will take time to have these ingrained things give way. I have been out for ALMOST a year and because I still have to attend the occasional meeting/convention/whatever, and my friends are still JW's as is my wife.....I still get those what-if feelings. Its normal. Go with your mind, not your emotion, whenever possible.

HELP. ELDERS COMING TO TALK WITH THE FAMILY

Alot of good advise. I would say you are probably panicking a little and there is no reason. Just sit there. Elders love to talk. You can always deflect by asking more and more about the annual meeting or the details in the new WT studies if you just want to see them trip on themselves. But the best thing to do is probably to just not be there, or if you are there just relax and pretend to listen.

I told my wife that she was in a cult...
by garyneal in...it is not the first time i did this but from time to time when i get frustrated i tend to say things i later regret, like this.. she went to the meeting this past sunday and apparently she heard a talk about watching her associations.
she told me that she was glad to have that talk because the message was timely for her.
you see, the saturday night prior she and my kids were at her sisters house and her sister and friends suggested that she hang out with them sometime.

Due to Oct 5th WT Biz Meet all meetings for that week are cancelled
by illoowy ini was informed that due to oct 5th wt biz meet all meetings for that week are cancelled,.
i asked if the mid week meeting was also and was told yes, because of the assembly.. it seems there's an overload of theocratic alternative banqueting feasts available so.
that the regular menu at the kh is not necessary for that week.

by witchywoman inmy husband and i had the wonderful opportunity to see this movie in portland oregon.
it is produced by gregorio smith.
he was raised in the jehovah's witness religion, and shows this movie from that point of view.

Hey there WW. I agree that it is a good start. i am most certainly a supporter of the movie.
I would lvoe to see Gregario as he improves on his craft, and with perhaps more financial support, to be part of a team that could do a documentary that I think would have a serious chance of making the rounds and getting some serious exposure.
I for one think a Rutherford documentary would be fancinating. Relating it to current JW teachings, and how those teachings have affected people now much like Gregario showed.
None of the people in the movie were ever "good JW's" so to speak. Good for them. Now what about the guy that went to Gilead, the former CO, the elder who had all JW employees......what happens when their wife needs blood, or they finally look their religion up on the internet....
I think that is a compelling story and a natural progression from this fantastic beginning. I would certainly help fund it.....and others here probably would too.
