Ann I think your post in the other forum basically sums it up. I can't believe Newtonian is still there! How about pHronesis? I did not know solomon Landers was dead. That is too bad. I liked him more than most.
How about Edwin n Florida? He went by Apologist on B-net for a while. He was pretty adept, but kept his responses to certain topics which always made me think there were some things he knew better.

Focus, I am sure I know the professor you speak of. I live close to him, and have had amny conversations. Heads up the Hebrew group, and unfortunately lost his wife some time back.

I think you nailed it Ann, sensible ones will only argue if they feel they have a strong case.

A Warning for anyone with Fibromyalgia or CFS

i had been hearing about a food supplement that has shown to be a promising therapy for fibromyalgia or chronic fatique syndrome, a food supplement called d ribose.

i tried it and was impressed with the results, so i have been taking it for the last three months.

unfortunately during this time i have also had intestinal issues, which have gotten progressively worse, to the point it was debilitating, also nausea, dizziness and a mild headache.

Lisa my sister has soft tissue pain and the seeming "cocktail" of things that accompany it.

In the research I have done, I now firmly believe diet is the primary contributor here in MOST cases. A few people have auto immune challenges, but that is a bit different.

You can start with essentially a "Paleo" style diet, and maybe even experiment with ketosis. Sugar is your enemy, good fats are your friend. Even intermittent fasting has helped. If you want to do a cleanse beforehand, you can juice, and add turmuric root. Its disgusting, but very anti infmalatory. Better yet take a CO2 extracted oil tinture of it and see if it works for ya.

My sister had great results when she went off the drugs, started doing some relaxation, and changed her diet via a whole 30 protocol.

Tech49: Mini RC 2014 Review

i attended the regional convention (district convention) over the last weekend, and thought i would spend a few minutes putting down some thoughts, for your amusement.

i will bounce around a bit, as my notes and thoughts were a little craaaaazy.. we met at one of the smaller venues on the west coast, with attendance around 7,000.

(28 baptized.... <.04%) we were tied in to the international convention in arlington, tx.. my first thought, only about 2 hours in, was how much this sounded like a plain old sales meeting!

VERY short day at the Arlington/Dallas International Convention-My Observations

okay, some good takeaway:.

i have never been to a convention quite like this before.

a very friendly vibe all around, lots of banners and posters with sayings like "sending love to all our brothers", "see you in the paradise", "ecuador sends greetings", and "jehovahs-witness.net" (okay, i lied on that last one...).

Shana....you can't be serious. Religious freedom in the USA is NOT an issue, unless you are trying to whip up the rabble of conservative religious fundamentalists to vote for the next guy that will enact laws not in their best interests.

This is just too much. Hobby Lobby is paying for their medical insurance. Hobby Lobby will not save money by not being able to pay for these 4 things. Know why? Because it doesn't matter. They are actually reaching into coverage, already existing in the providers plan, to yank out some religious excempttions they don't want to "pay for".

Its like a JW arguing they don't want money they give in taxes to go to paying for war, so they don't pay taxes. Well how stupid is that. Your duty is to pay the tax, how the money is used is a separate issue and you are not responsible for it.

HL is not somehow responsible for the destruction of a zygote or fertilized egg by proxy, because they provie medical coverage to the employer who does decide to do that. Will God hold them accountable for providing medical care that is then used in this specific way? Please.

The mandate is with the plan. It does not force the doctor, the patient, or any employer to somehow do anything specific, other than maintain a plan.

This is a non-issue, and is just causing more of a distaste for religion than I have already had recently.

I guess what I am thinking, is if they just have ageneral fund then fine. But that means every medical procedure needed by a bethelite is micromanaged? What a living hell!

More to the point however, can a JW business at some point sue to say they do not want the medical insurance they pay for, to pay for BLOOD?

Here is what Ruth GInsberg wrote in her dissent. Its 35 pages, but this stood out to me for obvious reasons.

"Would the exemption…extend to employers with religiously grounded objections to blood transfusions (Jehovah's Witnesses); antidepressants (Scientologists); medications derived from pigs, including anesthesia, intravenous fluids, and pills coated with gelatin (certain Muslims, Jews, and Hindus); and vaccinations[?]…Not much help there for the lower courts bound by today's decision."

Potentially, this opens up the ludicrous idea for a JW employer to refuse to pay for procedures regarding blood. Now I dont believe this will actually come up or be enforced. many would have no clue that this would even affect their rights.

However, it made me think about the headquarters. I assume bethelites are covered under some massive health care plan, and I don't know what is going on over there with the affordable care act. What if a Bethelite decided they were cool with blood (reason is imaterial). COuld Bethel fidn out or refuse to cover that proceedure as a part of their packaged health care offering?

Pedophile Elder in jail gets reinstated

there was a brother in my congregation who was an elder.

he got disfellowshipped about two years ago for looking at child porn and also trying to meet up with a thirteen year old boy online.

he was also arrested soon after this.

Then all he has to do is change congregations, and while the law would require him to register as a sex offender in his vicinity, and tell his immediate neighboors, in the congregation that information would only go to the elders, and the congregation would not be made aware.

Child porn? I mean seriously. Does it get any worse?
