Good news and bad news --- pandemic and Kingdom Halls.
by pistolpete inu/aposta-fish from exjw reddit.
good news bad news pandemic and kingdom halls.. first the bad news, coming out of israel - one of the first countries to push total vaccination.
the news is the vaccine especially the pfizer one looks like it wears off and hospital rates have gone up for those that have been vaccinated.
-
Simon
hospital rates have gone up for those that have been vaccinated
The problem with statistics is that they often don't provide the full data and even if they do, people don't know how to interpret it.
I'm guessing this is based on some stats that the majority of those in hospital with Covid are vaccinated?
The knee-jerk reaction to that is often "OMG, see - vaccines DON'T WORK!!!"
But is that what the stats really tell you?
How many people are in hospital, and happen to have Covid, but are not hospitalized due to covid?
How many are in hospital due to Covid but are not in the morgue due to Covid?
If the people who didn't get vaccinated all die, then the stats for the vaccinated look really bad by comparison, but at that point we're probably comparing the wrong thing.
What really matters - hospital occupancy or deaths?

Do JWs buy old JW books to destroy?
by mickbobcat ini have never heard of this but i doubt its never been done.
i sell some older jw books on etsy and have always been a bit afraid that some jws are buying them to destroy.
if you have heard of this let me know.

What do you care? Take their money!
IMO it isn't a lack of awareness or knowledge about things the WTS has printed in the past that prevents current JWs waking up. i.e. it's not like you can waft a real book under their nose and they'll suddenly believe and acknowledge what you have been telling them, so the value of these books is probably limited.
Look at it as disposable income that won't be donated to the WTS.
Take the money.

The report I saw suggests they are already unable to pay debts to contractors, and have been trading on empty for some time, issuing IOUs instead of payments. It's now become obvious and untennable.
The knock-on effect is the real damage because all the people they don't pay then can't themselves pay for things, and so more companies will go bust. It will be large companies and small.
The idea that the US or China can just print more money shows how utterly clueless these people are. You can't. History has shown over and over that you can't inflate money like this without consequence.
The reason they do it is it steals from savers and gives to debtors, by devaluing their debt. And there are no bigger debtors than the government, which is why Fiat money always eventually implodes and goes to zero.

And the irony - the woman with AOC has a huge outstanding tax bill.
Rules for thee, never for them.

Just changed out the summer quilts.
by GrreatTeacher ini just washed all my summer quilts and put them away for the season.
i brought out the thicker and heavier winter quilts and put them on the beds.. i love patchwork quilts and have a couple of heirloom ones actually made out of the scraps of old family clothes.
my mom can point to a fabric and say," oh, that was a dress of mine when i was little," or, "that was my mother's apron.".

Remember when HITTING A WOMAN was just WRONG!
by pistolpete injust a few years ago, any man that slapped a women was considered a piece of shit.
today people are are paying and cheering to see a man knocking the shit out of a woman.
what feminists, social warriors, and gender recognition fighters don't realized is that their actions are actually causing the world to revert back to the days when the world treated women as property, second class species, with no rights whatsoever, whose only value was a sex instrument for the male species.

Do you say she won because the man was 25 to 26 years older than her?
In my memory of the video news footage that I saw as a pre-teen the man who lost was deeply embarrassed that he lost.Read up more - it was rigged. He beat the top female player in the world with ease in an earlier match and many believe he threw the King match to have his gambling debts to the mob erased.
In 1973, Riggs saw an opportunity to both make money and draw attention to the sport of tennis. He came out of retirement to challenge one of the world's greatest female players to a match, claiming that the female game was inferior and that a top female player could not beat him, even at the age of 55. He challenged Margaret Court, 30 years old and the top female player in the world, and they played on May 13, Mother's Day, in Ramona, California. Riggs used his drop shots and lobs to keep Court off balance;[24][25] his easy 6–2, 6–1 victory in less than an hour landed him on the cover of both Sports Illustrated and Time magazine.[25][26] The match was called the "Mother's Day Massacre".[27]
Riggs had originally challenged Billie Jean King, but she had declined, regarding the challenge as a fatuous gimmick. Following Court's loss to Riggs, King decided to accept his challenge,[28][29] and the two met in the Houston Astrodome on prime time television on Thursday, September 20, in a match billed as The Battle of the Sexes.[6] The oddsmakers and writers favored Riggs;[30] he built an early lead, but King won in straight sets (6–4, 6–3, 6–3) for the $100,000 winner-take-all prize.[7][8]
The ESPN program Outside the Lines[31] made an allegation that Riggs took advantage of the overwhelming odds against King and threw the match to get his debts to the mob erased. The program featured a man who had been silent for 40 years for reasons of self-protection who claimed that he had worked at a country club and heard several members of the mafia talking about Riggs throwing the match in exchange for cancelling his gambling debt to the mob. The program also stated that Riggs' close friend and estate executor Lornie Kuhle vehemently denied Riggs was ever in debt to the mob or received a payoff from them.
In the 2017 film adaptation Battle of the Sexes, Riggs was played by Steve Carell, with Emma Stone as Billie Jean King

Question:
Who's ever had any luck warming water by heating the air above it?
Alternatively, has anyone noticed that air tends to be heated or cooled by large bodies of water?
The CO2 in the atmosphere is at one of the lowest levels it's ever been in the history of live on the planet. Vegetation and tree growth has accelerated as a result of the increases, but the earth is a long way from being as lush as it was when CO2 was way, way higher.
But blah blah UN climate mandates, taxes and EV money to unions. Yeah, everything is OK if someone is given dollars.

NSIDC's research and scientific data management activities are supported by NASA, the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and other federal agencies, through competitive grants and contracts.
Seem more legit than some media company creating a dramatic video.
