  His very survival depends on his reputation. Everything negative will hurt his bottom line. Imagine building something and having absolutely no backup plan. This is exactly why he is lashing out like an animal cornered. He has no backup plan.

  It's still staggering that someone who relied on his online reputation for 100% of his income had so little regard for it, both in his original behavior and then the subsequent handling of the fallout from it - the livestream and attempts to make out he has some legal case with any hope of success.

  It's like dousing yourself in paraffin, then lighting a match ... and doing it all on top of a cliff that you then throw yourself off. But it's all other people's fault for doing it to him remember ...

  When he says that anyone who gets bigger than him is at risk of being "abused" like him. What he means there is. No one had better get bigger than him.

  He's also attempting to put people off being involved, creating content and even trying to build something. If it is really so bad, why does he keep doing it?

  Oh, that's right ... for the $$$

  And what would impact that the most? Competition ....

  The reality is that the abuse that other exJW content creators have received has largely come from him.

  Everyone has some regrets of choices not taken, but there's no guarantee that choice would have been a better or happier one. The fantasies we build in our mind rarely have the mundane pressures of day-to-day life - working, paying bills, doing chores.

  There's a poem I remember from English at school, where the author is imagining living in a village they see from a train, picturing a life they might have had. But it's quickly gone with a jolt of the carriage, and the idle musings of course amount to nothing ...

  Oh wow, I didn't know that - what I read was that it just caused some fires in rural areas. Thanks for filling me in!

  Another fascinating fact is that there was a battle in WWII where the Germans fought alongside the US against the SS who were going to execute prisoners.

  Another "fun fact" is that Japan actually managed to bomb the US mainland during WWII. They sent bombs in balloons via the jet-stream and caused almost no damage whatsoever. But they landed bombs.

  Well, it was the US. They did it to themselves but the bombs were close to detonating (3 of 4 steps completed) and one couldn't be recovered, so it's still there, weapons-grade uranium in a field in North Carolina

  Twitter is a shit system with biased moderation. If you tried to design a system to cause bad feeling and division, it's hard to imagine you could come up with anything worse.

  Bullied At School

  just curious about the rest of you.

  i was bullied quite badly throughout my school years because of being a witness and not participating in religious holidays, sporting celebrations, assembly (worship), and the like.. it was mostly from other pupils but there were a couple of teachers who definitely treated me badly.

  that was back when uk teachers still caned pupils or were allowed to hurl the heavy wooden blackboard duster across the room at them.... i still have ptsd flashbacks on some of those events even after 50 years!

  Yeah, I remember being bullied at school and it does stick with you. Making your kid go through school as a JW is cruel and unloving - anything that makes you stand out as "weird and different" is like waving a flag saying "pick on me!".

  Public schools are the only place most people will ever encounter real violence. That and prison. Both usually badly run by the government. I think there's a decent chance that the bullies end up in prison later in life. I like the thought of that.

  I wasn't bullied after I went all "Rocky Balboa" on a kid who was picking on me during a class (literally, everyone was chanting "Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!"). I got sent to see the head of year who also happened to be my English teacher. She started saying "so you two boys have been fighting in cla ...", looked up and exclaimed "Simon?!". She then asked me what happened, I told her, she gave the other kid detention and I was sent back to class (to another chorus of "Rocky! Rocky!" chants). He objected that he hadn't said his side and she said "what would the point be of hearing you lie? I've already heard what actually happened". There are benefits to the "honest" reputation after all.

  In the playground one of the tough kids came up to me saying "I heard you beat (whatever his name was) up in class?" and I thought "uh oh!" ... after a timid nod he face lit up and he said "nice one! I heard it was awesome!".

  That was my short-lived career as a fighter.

  Again, we need to stop going off what he claims. Just because he makes a video saying "the WatchTower is trying to silence me" does not mean they are. He's simply got a bog-standard copyright takedown request and tried to turn it into a martyrdom, aka, a fund-raising opportunity.

  I've had a few DMCA takedown notices from the WTS over the years. I don't shout about it because it's not really a big deal and soliciting donations on the back of it wouldn't change anything so IMO would be immoral. I think I complied with a couple and not with one, but nothing else came of it. They don't appear particularly over-eager to shut anyone down from what I've seen - they use the law to protect their copyrights which is what anyone needs to do to keep control and rights over their material. Lloyd seems to be far more eager to "shut people down"

  The WTS are not Scientology, however much he tries to make out otherwise.

  No need. Whatever anyone posts is their view - unless someone specifically says otherwise we don't agree or disagree with anything. No need to add any endorsement or non-endorsement notices to anything.

  “Seeing”, “dating”, “meeting”. What’s next? “Consulting”, “entertaining”, “encountering”? So, ... do I have this straight? He dates SWs, but doesn’t always take advantage of all the services they offer?

  You have to think with "Lloyd Logic" ... remember how he claims that money spent goes into separate distinct buckets? Like Patreon money and Google Ads money, and whatever is spent is always from someplace else so isn't being funded by ... you get the idea.

  Same with his hookers. He could be "dating" a hooker, paying for meals, transport, gifts, anything and everything and then pretend that's a separate "bucket" of money and nothing at all todo with them sleeping with him.

  In his warped mind, that means he's dated them, not hired them and paid for sex.

  Of course he's also a lying shit so why do we bother with anything he says? It's all bullshit to weasel his way out of whatever awkward situation his previous lies got him in.

  As for being "controlled opposition". You can be damaging to a cause (so ultimately beneficial to the "enemy") without any paid or organized collusion.

  I think this is a more accurate description of the situation. He's elbowed people out of the way, silenced other voices, and then discredited himself - living up to the caricature of how an apostate will behave once they "leave the truth".

  If you become a poster child that the WTS can use to say "see, look how people fall apart when they leave - abusing their spouse by using prostitutes ..." then there doesn't need to be an ongoing relationship or any "control" for that person to affectively be opposition to the very thing they claim to be fighting for or supporting.

  But I don't think the overly-dramatic video helps or is really convincing. Like Evans, it probably does more harm than good, so personally I would distance myself from it. Things like that chip away at your credibility and reflect on your judgement IMO.
