NEW RELIGION! NEED INPUT!
by TR inthis is sort of a take-off of the "what should the wt do" thread.. i need to get together a board of directors and elect a president and officers.
we need to figure out a doctrine, a manifesto, and a set of disciplinary rules.
we need to figure out a way to fund our new movement.

I think we need to come up with some sort of dress code - more for the 'sister' really and obviously, any who won't look good in hotpants will not be encouraged to get baptised (how about we use a very small bath so only slim ones will fit?)

Another WOL "Gem"
by thinker infirst a quoted post from w.o.l.
why we sometimes adjust our beliefs .
when a watchman is posted on the watchtower, he must report all perceived approaching threats.

I think there are huge differences between those that come into 'the truth' and those brough up in it. The ones that join often do so because of some personal trauma that the JWs pick up on an 'exploit' whereas those brought up know nothing else and so it is very difficult to break free.

How do you feel about smacking at K Hall?
by Latte inpersonally, it upsets me very much.
or are there any other parents that found better, alternative ways of getting young children 'trained'?.
i am not anti -smacking by the way,(except at the kh) but it is always the very last resort.. latte

I think it's bad when very young kids are spanked for not sitting still - it's two hours for goodness sake and boring as hell !
There was a familly in our hall that hit their kids so much in the hall, on the way out and then in the foyer that they really should have been reported to the authorities - if they had done that to another adult it would have been serious assault.
Oh well...spare the rod, spoil the child...God knows best... -

I like the names, esp 'Bro Fuddled'. Reminds me of the 'Bro Worldly', 'Bro Sports' types etc...that we heard at assemblies.
We had an elderly brother in our hall who would mis-pronounce names and not realise it. The introduction to the WatchTower study by 'Brother Mental' instead of Brother Melton was particular hit. -

Spy vs. Spy
by TR inprisca's comments about wol made me wonder about official wts sanctioned spies and moles.
we all know for a fact that to the wts lies are ok, and spying does happen.
does anyone know of officially appointed wts spies, or do hard-core militant and/or plain old sneaky jw's just feel it is their duty?

Ladies, LADIES !!
Calm down please...this is exactly the wort of thing that idiots like to see that they have caused people to fall out between themselves.
I understand what has been said.
Mommy, I didn't realise you were serious about removing your pic - sorry. If you click on the 'my profile' link at the top left and delete the line with the picture on it it will disappear.
While I'm here can I give my views on this?
I have often made a conscious effort not to give too much attention to attractive women because I figure being beautiful could be as much as a drag as not being when you get idiots hassling you all the time.
It's always best to treat people based on who they are than what they look like (says the ugly guy )
Anyway, er...I don't think there was a point to it really... -

NON JW ENGAGED TO A JW
by Cj inhello all!!
i am 22 years old and very much in love with my fiance.we have overcome many obstacles and have many more to overcome but they have all been worth it..my fiance was raised as a jw and i was raised as a catholic.i am non-practising and am considering converting to his beliefs.i have been doing alot of research and, truthfully,i am not in agreement with most of what i have learned.i know that we have to reach some sort of religious agreement before getting married and bringing children into the picture.i am feeling overwhelmed.i love him with all my heart and soul.i am christian and pary to god as opposed to jehovah..to me they are one and the same...his parents don't approve of me due to my upbringing..his father is a "minister".my father doesn't approve of my fiance because we are of different races....does anyone have any encouraging words?suggestions?.

I wish you all the best Cj - unfortunately, the religious and recial differences will probably make things difficult but it's really down to both of you as to how you cope with them and no one else.
Do not underestimate the pressure that your partners familly and friends will put you under to 'join them' though - until you do you will probably always be treated as a kind of outsider.
I think love can overcome anything though, he most love you a great deal to consider marrying outside of the faith because there is a lot of pressure not to do this. -

I guess 'private networks' (private meaning the Internet??) can be just like the WatchTower!
They seem to use that to "speculate regarding spiritual matters, give bad advice, spread gossip and false information, plant negative ideas, raise questions and doubts that subvert the faith of some, and disseminate private interpretations of Scripture."
How kind of them to provide such a concise description of it...
