  anyone following the derek chauvin trial?.

  if you are actually following it, not just listening to the media, you will likely realize that there is a huge gap between what is going on in court and what is being reported in the media.. if the trial was fair, i think he should be acquitted.

  there is plenty of reasonable doubt about the cause of death (his dealer doesn't want to testify because he could be guilty of 3rd degree murder for selling him a fatal amount of fentanyl) and even doubt over whether the officer even had his knee on the guys neck or did anything counter to what they were meant to do as per policy.. but is it fair?

  There is a reason why rich people tend to get away with so much and when you are poor and can't afford a good defense, you are screwed.

  Michael Jackson, O.J. Simpson, just a couple of names that come to mind.

  But here's we're talking about publicity of the allegation and trial, not that the person was famous before. In this case the trial was way too politicized to be fair by any reasonable stretch of the imagination. Even the judge said so.

  Why didn't those responsible for the 20008/2009 financial crisis go to prison?

  It depends if they committed actual crimes or not and typically, politicians don't send people who bankroll them to jail - it's bad for business, their own business.

  You seem to be insinuating that they are wrong? But you are comparing Apples and Bricks.

  It's possible that some in the west overreacted and the "pandemic" wasn't that bad, and at the same time, that the same virus can be devastating to another country such as India.

  India has lots of poverty and incredible population density - just what a virus would want.

  That some conditions are ideal and some are less ideal is surely hardly a surprise, right?

  India appears to have been hard hit and struggling to cope, hopefully they get the help and support they need, especially for things like supplies of Oxygen.

  Single Pretty Girls that are JWs, have so much potential, but sadly........

  the pandemic has made the situation worse for single young jw girls.. i'm hearing tons of sad stories of single jw girls who are going, or have gone into deep depression.

  with many having thoughts of committing suicide and hoping for a better life in the new order.. the pandemic has made it almost impossible for young jw girls to find a suitable marriage mate.

  especially since the single jw boys-men want young, gorgeous, thin, virgins, who look like models and summit to the headship arrangement.

  "Don't question the narrative or stand up to us, we will destroy your life"

  This isn't justice, it's a joke.

  What’s Your View On Self Defense?

  if someone comes to you with a knife or a gun, would you defend yourself if you could?

  if someone tried to beat you up , would you physically engage, run away or just try to talk the person out of beating you up or robbing you?

  if you did have a gun to defend yourself would you shoot to kill or would you simply aim for the ankle to incapacitate the person?

  Nothing beats being wise and avoiding situations and places that you really don't want to be in.

  But if you do find yourself being attacked, remember: they made that choice and forced any choice that you make as a result onto you.

  So don't feel guilty if you beat the shit out of someone.

  If you have a gun and feel like shooting is justified, then empty the clip and aim for their body and then their head (kill-shot, gangsta-style, with the gun sideways).

  The best meat?

  I bought a strip of Wagyu beef from Costco a few weeks ago, quite an investment even at Costco prices. Cut it up into steaks and vacuum sealed it and had some cooked sous-vide and then seared, and froze the rest.

  I just always wanted to try it to see if it really was any different.

  It really is, it's awesome! The only downside is that it's ruined "normal" (cheap) steak for me and I'm now planning on splurging for some of the fancy imported Kobe A5 stuff.

  Best athlete: Daley Thompson, or Sebastian Coe, or Carl Lewis ... those are the people I remember from when I bothered to watch the Olympics.

  I'll throw one in:

  Best songwriter: Bob Dylan, by a long country mile.

  If these things didn't happen 20 years ago (and I don't believe they did) ...

  I haven’t seen an increase of this where I live (and what you listed would fall under the category of racism in general society). The thread asked for personal observations. I can’t speak for the entire planet. Nor is this the type of racism to which I specifically referred.

  I notice you edited your post to include "(where I live)", perhaps to try to give the impression that my response was somehow irrelevant, and you are trying to re-enforce that by repeating the "where I live" in this response too and attempting to make it all about personal observation only.

  Are you saying it doesn't affect peoples lives, "where you live", or that it doesn't occur, "where you live"?

  'cause if you live in any western country, the latter is probably a lie.

  I don't think the question was "have you experienced it yourself or seen it directly".

  Shitty parents who set bad examples teach these kids the wrong way to live, expecting handouts and govt giveaways

  Who educated those parents?

  I think great parenting can overcome poor teaching, when it comes to morality and ethics, but lacking an education overall sets people on a bad trajectory.

  Little of that type of racism has any real effect on day-to-day life.

  So giving an inferior candidate your spot at university ...

  Promoting an inferior work colleague because of a diversity quota & PR ...

  Not hiring someone on the basis of their race ...

  You don't think these have any real effect on people's day-to-day life?
