i remember one of the flowchart responses to people questioning the biblical flood was something along the lines that "every culture has a flood story".. of course, nearly everywhere has flooded at one time or another and we know there are minor floods and then there are the 1-in-1000 year kind of weather event, that tend to get a mention (anyone from the uk will still talk about the summer of '76, and that's probably nothing in comparison to a decent flood).. but the inference is that the flood must be real, because every culture has a flood story.. the best response is "now do dragons".. because apparently, nearly every culture also has a dragon legend.. does it mean dragons exist?

Simon, a lot of them have been trafficked into it as well. I was watching Underage, Undercover on Discovery+ and it was a huge eye-opener. Girls being targeted between the ages of 12-15, perverts getting CSAM from them, to sell to other perverts.

Yeah, from what I've read recently I think there's an incredibly high probability (i.e. effectively a certainty) that anyone visiting prostitutes is raping someone, possibly a victim of child abuse. Whatever they tell themselves about it being consensual is just lies, because they don't know and don't bother to know.

Also interesting is how the prevalence of prostitution (when its legalized or decriminalized) results in huge upticks in rapes and violence against all women. There are lots of myths about the whole thing, the reality is not at all like how some portray it.

This is a SICK trade that only a true misogynist would be involved in.

I am quite freaked out in this forum as to how well you all seem to know the "real Lloyd"

He used this forum to promote his site when he first started. I can't remember if he was already out at that point (heck, I don't really know if he's genuinely "out" even now, LOL) but he gave us all early access to how he worked and what he was like.

Very stubborn, childish, thin skinned, manipulative, frames criticism as an attack to claim he's the "victim" and generally dismissive of anyone else's opinion, concerns and privacy.

He seems to generate a constant whirlwind of drama and controversy and I haven't fully made my mind up yet if that is an act to create publicity in order to grow an audience for $$$ or if he's just a dysfunctional character who doesn't know how to act appropriately.

But safe to say, this is a Lloyd-free zone, and while we don't mind a robust debate on pretty much any topic going as long as it's interesting, we try to keep things friendly and cordial if we can.

You are a beautiful woman and if you wanted to go into another relationship with someone else, I guarantee you, you will have no problems whatsoever.

I know you mean well with that comment, but I would suggest people don't get into relationships with anyone simply based on physical attraction, whether that is because you find someone else attractive or your rely too much on your own looks to attract someone. You should want someone who values you for who you are, who finds you intellectually stimulating and will want to be with you when your looks are something you both remind yourself about with old photos.

Marrying for looks is a fools game that leaves people with someone who'll forever be looking over your shoulder to see if there is a better deal now available. It's no better than marrying based on someone's "spirituality" - it's not going to create a good marriage. Contrary to JW folk lore, marriage is not a 3 strand cord and if it is, whatever that 3rd cord is, is going to rip it apart. It should be you and them, just 2 people, united.

I know that sounds ridiculously old fashioned, but IMO it's true and women shouldn't be told that their value comes down to their attractiveness.

I live in China and this is actually something that happens in big cities when people can't afford one. They usually hire foreigners to act (pretend) as lawyers.

Hmmn, being a grey-haired old white dude is something I excel at and I can even throw in a Downton Abbey accent ... good to know I have options!

Being isolated without friends or a support network is a huge red flag for someone suffering from controlling behavior. It's what the WTS does to people, but way worse because it's total and complete and on an individual level. Even as a JW you'd at least have some friendly folk you could talk to in the local congregation. Without that you have nothing.

You don't have to be a super-outgoing party person but everyone should have at least one very good friend that they can confide in, discuss things with, get a 3rd party viewpoint from and rely on for emergency support if needed.

"I had a friend once but he didn't like her" is such a sad indictment of a relationship. I hope she starts to spread her wings and learns to expand her own social network so he isn't in such complete control of her life. It's not like she is the one in a foreign country so she has that advantage after all.
