  Simple Question Re 1914

  wt claims that satan was thrown out of heaven in october 1914 precipitating ww!

  and the end times.

  a small problem with that is ww1 started on july 28th 1914 whilst satan was still in heaven picking his nose.. how did we not see this and waste years of precious life?

  Poor Little Dewey, Watering Flowers Alone in Space

  one of the earliest movies i can remember watching, probably because of the heart-wrenching ending with little dewey alone in space, watering the flowers in the garden, was silent running.

  i'm not going to admit to how long i sobbed after watching that.. apart from it being a pioneering movie about environmental apocalypse and the people involved going on to create other great scifi movies, and the robots being the inspiration for r2d2 in starwars ... it reminds me of growing up.. it's now a 50 year old movie.

  but back i thought the little robot was real.

  One of the earliest movies I can remember watching, probably because of the heart-wrenching ending with little Dewey alone in space, watering the flowers in the garden, was Silent Running. I'm not going to admit to how long I sobbed after watching that.

  Apart from it being a pioneering movie about environmental apocalypse and the people involved going on to create other great SciFi movies, and the robots being the inspiration for R2D2 in StarWars ... it reminds me of growing up.

  It's now a 50 year old movie. But back I thought the little robot was real. Up there. On his own. Faithfully looking after the last remaining flowers. He was the last one left of 3 robots.

  Now I know it was just a movie, I know it was 3 double amputees who played the robots by walking on their hands. It seems less magical.

  I grew up.

  It reminds me that I grew up because I once believed a silly thing. I thought it was real, but it wasn't.

  Part of me wishes it was real, that little Dewey is still up there with his watering can, taking care of his garden, but happy. But you can never go back and there's no point yearning for simpler times.

  Now I'm an adult and I get to think about adult stuff, inflation and taxes, bills and all the fun things no one likes to think about. A fantasy world where you'll always be that kid, free of worry is an appealing fantasy, but that's all it is.

  None of the WTS stories ever came close to the emotional power of that movie. That stuff was way easier to leave behind and forget about.

  i know there was a leak a few weeks back, but this really does seem to have come out of the blue.. the anomaly was the original decision.

  it clearly had no basis in law or the constitution, and was a flimsy, ridiculous ruling.

  It is not an an easy situation anyway you look at it but the idea that a 14 year old girls or a women in college that makes a drunken mistake need to be held accountable, seriously get fucked.

  A pregnancy test and the morning after pill is too arduous?

  Being sexually active includes being responsible, and people should learn that instead of the false idea that life is consequence-free.

  FYI: If you click the wrong one by mistake, and then click the other, it toggles your vote - only one is ever counted. It may appear to count in the UK because it doesn't know you might have changed it, but when the page is refreshed it will be correct.

  It's also pointless clicking like or dislike multiple times ... again, only one vote counts, and duplicate votes are discarded.

  So does anyone want to return to the subject of whether or not we should lay off him due to concerns of him committing suicide?

  It wouldn't bother me in the slightest if he did. I don't worry about the plight of people who abuse and bully others.

  But I don't think there is any risk of that - I think he tends to drop the "mental health" and "suicide" words when he's been caught doing something wrong. It's like a murderer claiming an insanity defence - a long way from the truth but a convenient trick to try and remove responsibility for their actions.

  Facts:

  The climate always changes. Change is not evidence of anything.

  We've just emerged from one of the coldest periods in recent history.

  Most charts are propaganda, with selective starting points (and different ones for different factors).

  The planet has been hotter in the past, and hosted more life when it was.

  CO2 has been WAY higher in the past and the planet was more lush.

  The tree-line has risen and vegetation has increased as CO2 has gone up.

  CO2 is plant food. We're carbon based life.

  Below a certain level of CO2, life ceases. CO2 going down is more of a threat to life.

  No climate model matches reality, and all are way off in the same direction.

  You don't get funding if your "science" gives the "wrong" answers.

  Temperature increases precede CO2 rise (it's not "cause and effect")

  We're responsible for a tiny percentage of a small proportion of a gas, it's nothing compared to what really dictates the temperature of the planet which is the water + the sun.

  Hot water warms the air above it, a little warm air does nothing to a large body of water below it.

  None of the people telling you how you need to live actually do it themselves They buy beachfront properties and fly on private jets. Do they really believe it? No, so why should you ...
