Password Leakage?

i got a message that my password on this site has been part of a leakage.

is this known?

where can i change my password?.

They were hacked and all user vaults taken, some of which contain hex-encoded (not encrypted) data for website URLs. These could leak data if the bookmarked page happened to have a reset token in the URL or at least indicate which user vaults maybe worth hacking ... ie. which contain higher value accounts (no one is going to hack your Netflix account, but your Bank account ...).

1Password has a significantly more secure system and put effort into keeping things up-to-date.

LastPass seems to have been bought by a company that wanted to squeeze every $ out without any ongoing investment. Their handling of the incident, and delay in coming out with the truth and attempts to give misleading information are pretty bad.

I find their reasoning flawed and based on a great deal of ignorance and lack of empathy.

Yeah, that person seems clueless about reality to the point of being a fucking idiot, sounds like they are trying to justify to themselves that prostituted women are really sometimes having a great life so what behavior they themselves enabled wasn't so bad. The reality is that Pretty Women was a fantasy and prostitution raises levels of abuse and violence for ALL women. The research is clear and damning. It should simply not be tolerated and no moral person defends or excuses it.

I have no idea about publishing, and I suspect that you would be in the minority of the community who does know. When you don’t know something, this kind of information seems legitimate.

It's funny how sometimes people lie when they don't even really need to, like they get a kick out of conning people.

It also reminds me of being in PC World back in the day and overhearing some salesman spouting absolute bullshit like "if you upgrade the CD player it will definitely make your internet faster".

I hate those kinds of people who take advantage of others naiveté.

There was a black YouTuber who made a good video about the fiasco early on. She said that a married associate of LE tried to hit on her. Did anyone find out who that was? If he was prone to that kind of thing then LE was probably aware of it as well… so it’s possible they have dirt on each other.

Birds of a feather tend to find each other and stick together.

It's why I judge anyone who didn't distance themselves immediately his real nature was revealed. If they continue to support him, they are women-hating perverts. No amount of turning as blind eye to what he was doing alters the fact that they were enabling it and if they continue to support him they condone and support what their money was spent on - abuse.

He actually believed that spending 2 years in art college, ART college, would land him any kind of job and was then surprised that all he could get was low level part time McJobs?

The people who get design jobs have portfolios of work they can show to demonstrate that they can do the job.

Has he ever demonstrated that he has any artistic or design skills whatsoever? Or has he always got other people to contribute their work instead?

When you're in your 20's you can get away with lack of career experience and skills. As you get older, there are fewer potential jobs for someone with a clear history of being work-shy and an ever increasing pool of young talent that can be given those opportunities instead.

Still incredible that someone who relied on his "activism" so much was so careless with his support and trashed it all. Such an entitled attitude.

A though on the shooting tragedy

i am thinking about how i read in the reports that the shooter had contacted another person expressing desire to go back .....and was told to contact an elder.

the man seemed to me to be reaching out for help and got put off...and since he had called this person, he was put off by someone he felt could make a difference.

i would hate to be in the shoes of the person the shooter called...for i would feel so guilty, thinking i could have said something else and none the tragedy would have happened.

Sounds like someone has a claim against this union for doing nothing!

he was an unbelievably talented footballer and a great ambassador for the sport.. .

i've been hearing lots of talk recently calling lionel messi the greatest footballer of all time.

He transcended his sport and was known outside of it.

Everyone knew who Pele was, and he seemed like a nice, modest guy to boot.

I would be cautious ... those kinds of things are often designed to get you to panic and act too quickly, putting yourself at more risk.

I'm working on improving the auth features on the site but in the meantime good practice is always to use a different password for every site, ideally use a password manager (1Password, not LastPass!)

as part of a psychology msc research project, i am looking for participants to take part in a study designed to explore the experience of leaving the jehovah’s witnesses.. former witnesses who were raised in the organisation will be asked a few questions about their reasons for leaving, their experience of leaving, and how their life has changed since leaving.. taking part involves completing an interview over the internet.

according to research needs, the number of questions asked in each interview may vary.

the interview will take between 5 – 90 minutes depending on the questions asked and the level of detail you wish to provide.. your participation will remain confidential and anonymous, and it is completely voluntary so that you may withdraw at any time up to two weeks after the interview.

I know exactly why he told you everything, Kim. He thinks he has gotten so powerful he actually boats about his escapades thinking that his followers will stroke his ego even more.

I think he probably got some kick out of talking about his sexual deeds in front of women he felt like he had some power and control over.
