A link popped up on my twitter feed today that was the story of a former prostitute who explained how crucial it was to pretend that it was all her choice. Crucial to the punters of course, to absolve themselves of their guilt.

The reality is that the majority of women who are prostitutes are not doing it entirely because of their own free-choice. They are coerced, and so the men using them are RAPISTS.

But here's the thing ...

For an accurate view of what it's like being a JW, do we go ask current JWs or exJWs? Who are you going to get the truth from - someone who knows that have to say "oh, I don't mind not celebrating birthdays or Christmas" or someone who is out and free from it and able to be honest?

So why would anyone believe any current sex-worker's claim that it's all their choice when every ex-prostitute is saying that it never was and warning of the danger and the lies?

Now, how reasonable is it for someone who has made their entire life be about people being JWs or exJWs suddenly not to be able to tell that the claims being made by current sex-workers are utterly worthless, because they don't have the free will they claim.

How reasonable is it for someone to claim to advocate for victims of Child Sexual Abuse within a strict religion that denies people the ability to tell the truth of their experience, to not see the hypocrisy with using young prostitutes in heavily sex-trafficked countries?

So a reminder: I doubt there is anyone who has ever paid for a prostitute that they don't know, who is not a rapist. The more prostitutes they have used, the higher the odds to the point that I doubt there is any chance they are not.

Unfortunately, justice will never happen because they scale of the problem is too large and the people trying to make things right too few.

But it doesn't alter the fact that some people are rapists.

Someone who wants to wake up has already started a process. You have been directed to Lloyd Evans because of his ability to be popular through some mechanisms some of which harmless but some others completely despicable.

This is important.

NO-ONE convinces someone else not to be a JW. No believing JW is even looking at exJW or "apostate" content, so anyone who does is already doubting and looking for answers. JWs aren't JWs because of the logical soundness of the belief system, so trying to reason them away doesn't really work.

All we can do is demonstrate to people who are already having those doubts and searching is that we're not the monsters the WTS has made us out to be. We're not immoral, drug-taking, whore-using, wife-abusing, lowlifes.

And THAT is why Lloyd will forever be a detriment to exJWs, regardless of whatever content he produces. He's simply a caricature of an apostate, perfectly living down to the standards the WTS predicts.

What matters more than anything is to be kind and friendly and to demonstrate that there can be life after the WTS, that you don't have to let it define your entire existence. Leaving the WTS doesn't mean you will turn into some monster and destroy your family. You can be as moral and caring as you were as a JW, even more so as you have time to dedicate to your family and the pressure and time commitments of being a JW removed from your life.

So while people think they care about doctrine when they are leaving, I think that's usually just a "chaser" for confirmation that the WTS is wrong. What convinces them to leave is the injustice and hypocrisy they wake up to and finally notice, and that the WTS lied about the people who leave.

But if you become an immoral, drug-taking, whore-using, wife-abusing lowlife ... you may be what convinces someone who was looking that the WTS might be right after all, regardless of what "amazing content" you produce.

But let's be real. There is no amazing content. Making up lies based on pure speculation is no "expose", it's just made-up crap. Taking clips from talks and making fun of them or ridiculing beliefs is not really difficult, but is also only appealing to those who have already left. It isn't really reaching out to JWs or showing them that we're not their enemy - it's using them as an easy punching-bag because you know no blows will ever come back at you.

when some unsuspecting soul "buys into" Lloyd (believes him) and then, on finding out who he really "is", has to again go through the whole waking up process, as we did when we found out that Watchtower is a complete fraud.

That's why I think some prefer to live in a state of denial and keep supporting him, it's a way of convincing themselves that by supporting him he hasn't done anything wrong and they haven't been conned.

Yes, it sounds silly ... but people are dumb.

It's exactly a religion, and one of the most damaging ones around - the woke nutters are currently mutilating children, the ones that they actually allow to be born in the first place.

Hiring her to do something that would probably be one or two days a month of work does not cost him money as he can easily do this himself.

Again, he does not want to spend any more of his precious time doing this and having Dijana doing it is his own clever way of funnelling money to her through the company as a paid employee.

Sounds like a tax dodge. I wonder if she actually does any work, or just has a tax-free allowance to use up?

didn't know silicon valley bank was so important for start-ups....now there's some sort of contagion, people taking their money from regional banks to the big banks.

system seems pretty resilient and different from 2008. thoughts?.

And that was after the share price had cratered over 97% !

All they did with SVB was stave off the immediate issue, but all the problems are still inherent. The problems being that they have driven the economy into a ditch.

The incompetence of the people in charge is staggering. Listen to Janet Yellen - she sounds like the sort of confused old dear that gets scammed out of money and smells of piss. Hardly someone who should be in charge of anything. How does she get in that position?

But they've already said they will play favourites - whether depositors in a bank get ALL their deposits covered will depend on who those depositors are and which political horses the bank has backed.

Expect some cataclysmic failures in the banking system and economy in the coming months.

I liked it. It was entertaining and "different". I prefer a movie that surprises me rather than one I know the entire story arc within the first 10 minutes of watching.

What an awful take by the self-proclaimed expert in "legal".

First, the person making a false claim should be jailed for exactly as long as one of her victims would have been jailed for. The fact is she got a very lenient sentence for destroying the lives of several completely innocent men. but at least, for once, the perp of a hoax faces proper jail time.

Second, what does that have to do at all with any genuine victim? How is it sending a "terrible message"? A terrible message would be letting them off completely free of consequences, because nothing erodes sympathy and support for actual victims than pretend victims abusing and clogging up the legal system to try an hurt others and profit.

Which is probably what he really objects to - the idea that pretend "victims", using it as a grift to make money, should be held accountable in any way for their lies and attempts to harm others.
