by DerekMoors inlet's get the fun started and put in our votes for how far down the pumpkin patch lord of the fries will fall in november.. for those keeping score, last month he started at 457 patrons, did some begging and managed to bump those numbers up to 478, but as of this writing he's down to 439.. so, how well do you think the grift will continue this month?
let us know where you think he'll be on november 2. lucky number 420?
will he drop back down below 400?

On his long deleted translation site, he claimed he was uniquely qualified for legal translation because he worked as a filing clerk in a UK law office.
Reality: his wife spoke two languages and he could take advantage of members of the local congregation for cheap labor.
An art degree, ha! You may as well go to an interview and show them your 25 yard bronze swimming certificate for the use that would be. It's a do-nothing placeholder for people who can't decide or be bothered to do any proper studying.
He is skill-less, and work-shy, no wonder he doesn't have any employment record to speak of. He's pretty much unemployable because besides the lack of skills he has a complete lack of work ethic and would inevitably be a liability for any company that employed him.
Landscaping / lawn-care seemed to be the latest "earn a bit but still claim benefits" scam that JWs did when we left the UK. It's perfect for them - employ local JWs, pay them minimum wage (or less) and let the government top it up. Lots of cash payments that probably don't get declared.

But he finds the sailing rough when he has to bring his argument down to "he cheated on his wife with a sex worker, and unless you can prove she was underage, that's all he did."
The problem is-- most of his patrons find the "cheated on his wife with a sex worker" bad enough, not to mention that he admitted to paying for sex at least every few months for three or four years.
And that's the thing - Lloyd didn't cheat on his wife with "a" sex worker. It wasn't any kind of one-off "mistake" as he tries to spin it since it came out. As far as I understand, it's multiple sex workers on a regular basis over many years, in multiple countries, and whatever he claims, he seems to have had more than one relationship ("hey wife, remember to get the name of my ho correct, it's Sara but with a C ...").
If his deluded patreons can't see the humped Christmas tree for the forest, there's really no helping them - they almost deserve to be separated from their money. But it shouldn't help fund the abuse of women, which is what prostitution in high-trafficked countries most likely is, not to mention the dreadful emotional abuse inflicted on his wife and health risks he may be opening her up to.

Are adjustable rate mortgages the norm in the UK?
by SydBarrett inperhaps an odd subject for a presumably religious focused discussion board, but there are a fair number of brits here... i'm an american, but i sometimes listen to the podcast of the james o'brien radio show.
(a brit political radio show where people call in).
the past few months, a common topic has been people calling in discussing how hard they are getting hit financially because of a dramatic rise in interest rates on their mortgage.

But yeah, fixed rates were more common the North America than they were in the UK. Different market, different process to house-buying entirely. Some things better, some things worse.
We were fortunate in our recent mortgage renewals - our current 5 year term is fixed at 1.79%, way lower than fixed or variable rates are now, but previously we were on a 5 year variable rate term which was better than the fixed option at the time.
I'd hate to be facing a renewal coming up any time soon (we have about 2 years left to go, but then it's all done).

i was paying 15% in the late 80s..
Same.
Government devaluation of currency due to irresponsible money printing has made housing unavailable for many young people.
People who took on large mortgages, believing cheap money and low rates would last forever, contribute to the issues and they need to experience the pain of house prices coming down and payments being higher for prices to return to sane levels.

Cult or High Control Group?
by MillennialDawn ini see this phrase a lot: "the indication of a cult is what happens when you leave.
" i'm not sure where that originated, but it is a faulty categorization.
"cult" is almost always used in a derogatory way.

Steven Hassan "B. I. T. E. '' model ...
The Borg hits every one of those boxes
But most organizations / institutions also hit every one of those boxes. It's too simplistic to be useful.
It's just a convenient way for "experts" on cults to sell cult awareness books.
IMO trying to make out that JWs are a cult is over-egging the pudding, and isn't helpful.
They are a traditional orthodox christian group that has some high-control practices that often causes their followers to put their group membership ahead of their own friends and family relationships.
They are not going to see a comet and all drink cool-aid thinking it's Jesus coming to pick them up in his spaceship.

He literally can't help talking about sex at every opportunity can he? Who even says "sperms", let alone to an audience? What a freaking weirdo!
At some point, "I was brought up as a Jehovahs Witness" is just a footnote to your life, it's not the equivalent of being vegan (you know, that you have to tell everyone about it).

When did you see realise James Lloyd Evans was a wrongun?
by usualusername1 ini remember him on this site when he was called cedars and had jw survey.. straightaway i noticed he could not accept suggestions.. the time i knew he was dangerous was when his group aawa added people to their fb group without their permission and were outed.. he refused to close the fb page (whilst celebrating 1300 members joining in a few days).
one member complained and was subsequently disfellowshipped, which could easily have been avoided.. three week's after launching, the fb page was closed down.
from that moment i knew james lloyd evans was dangerous.. when did you realise he not good?.

He was an annoying little cunt from the off - endless pathetic "tricks" to claim he won any argument, and of course asking people for money.
When he started sending emails threatening to ruin my reputation if things weren't done as he wanted, and of course the AAWA debacle, there was no doubts what he was - an bullying grifter.
Hey Lloyd, how's my reputation looking now compared to yours? Who has 20+ years of integrity and who was just in it for the money? Who's sustained a successful marriage for coming up to 30 years, and who's the low-life scumbag who pays women to cheat on his wife and treats her like shit?
Being a real man doesn't actually take any effort. I don't know why you couldn't manage it.

Michael died twice for JW's sins.
by moomanchu inonce when jehovah turned him into a sperm and once when the romans crucified him.. technically sperm is still alive when used for invitro fertilization.
then again is sleeping in a tomb for a few hours really dead ?.
forget it, no one died for jw's sins.

All these people who have to travel (cough, junket, cough) for an interview.
Do they know that there's this thing called the internet? You can do video chat over it. Channels massively bigger than theirs do it all the time. It's amazing.
Of course it does remove the need for so much money changing hands ...
