  the horrific scenes from se asia we have seen on tv over the past week will have an effect one way or another on many jws.

  yes, the hardliners will see this as a part of the prelude to armageddon; "famine and earthquakes in various places".

  (mat 24) this sort mentally dismisses the unequalled loss of human life, reasoning that most of these would have died at armageddon anyway.

  Watching Parade on HD Plasma!!

  yeah, santa gave us a 37" hd plasma this year.

  were watching the pasadena parade on discovery hd.

  very cool.. on the hd channels it's like looking through a freaking window!.

  It feels like my first Christmas!

  many of you have read my posts this past year and know i've felt somehow disapointed in the holidays.

  the idea of the magical euphoroic feeling i expected always seemed to be missing.

  the last thread i wrote on holidays, many of you gave me a lot of food for thought regarding the holidays becoming more real when i start creating my own traditions, so they become special to me.

  Hats Off in the House !!!

  call me crazy or what, but theres a recurring issue that i have regarding my son's wish to wear his hat in the house.

  i've never been certain regarding the reason men were to remove their hats when petitioning the almighty, the issue of headship and being respectful of it and the common custom in the west for a man to remove the hat upon entering one's home or church.

  even in the military during basic training, the issue with regard to hats was a predominating theme, to the degree that we were taught that at the instant your head was no longer covered by a building of some sort, your hat was to be immediately placed upon your head, but once open sky no longer covered your head and you walked into a building of any type, that hat was to be removed !!

  I think it might also depend on the hat. My ex's son was over for dinner and got a knit beanie hat........he wore it all night. It was so cute that he liked his hat from my neighbors (it was a xmas gift). Now, if it was a pimp daddy hat or police type hat, I'd want it off.......

  I guess it seems that if its their 'job' hat it should come off. Wearing a hat sometimes says that "as soon as chow is over, I'm outta here." Now, if it doesn't seem that way, who cares.........

  Baseball hats.......ok

  Football helmuts........not ok
