Thanks
I had totally missed this.
Clearly it is a method of giving the public a lovely doctored version and giving only JWs the hardcore cult crap.

hey all,.
no pressure, no guilt, but for those of you who can, and those who feel like they would like to make a difference for someone special on this board (aka "family" to many of you), could you please consider helping a 'sister' in real need?
flyinghighnow needs some short-term help financially.
PM me the info please.

Crumpet,
I don't believe you!!
You wouldn't date anyone who had ANY KIND OF belief in God?
You just eliminated thousands of potentials!
9 out of 10 believe or are agnostic according to this http://www.statistics.gov.uk/STATBASE/xsdataset.asp?vlnk=1451

What do you mean a food phobia?
It sounds like something I'd almost like to develop.....no more worrying about my big thighs....
(tongue in cheek)

we all know there is no mention of cats in the bible...not one....but another thing that's weird is that there is no reference to any people in the old testament taking their kids down to the beach to make sandcastles and stuff...why?
I love dogs!!!!
Of course they distract JWs from "spiritual things" i.e. selling books for an american company who masquerades as a religion.
Who could say no to this:
i read this article in the paper on the train to work this morning (helped to keep me eyes of ladies feet and ankles) and was amazed as i never knew this before.. http://www.metro.co.uk/news/article.html?in_article_id=50123&in_page_id=34.
certain species can actually get pregnant and give birth without any make interaction.
if this doesnt support evolution as the most scientifically accountable theory of our existence what does?!.
I think evolution is fact.
I was simply stating an argument that creationists may put forward.
You raise a good counter argument in that we can see species evolving now....

I would certainly attend services with my partner if he was of a different faith. I would not see it as a burden, as long as it was maybe once a week
However, I would not change my diet for them (if I had a strange diet, and I don't...apart from eat everything and anything lol). I would, however, make them anything they wanted to eat or exclude anything they couldn't eat.
As for holidays, I'd join in....it all adds to the spice of life. I would expect them to allow my holidays too though and not forbid me from my celebrations.
I wouldn't date a fundamentalist, although I don't think that would have ever come up considering that I am neopagan!
Its wonderful to finally be in a relationship where we have similar religious views, my last relationship and other potential ones were full of conflict in that regard.

they work hard and take care of their mothers.
they are loving uncles and kind hearted.
but they are 5'3', 290 lbs., bald at 35 and their personal interests are grounded in 3 stooges movies and star trek reruns.
Crumpet!
NOW don't talk SILLY
You are really attractive indeed. If I hadn't been spoken for at the last BBQ....
Richie,
I agree that date rape is horrendous but I think that someone just was making a silly joke and certainly wasn't being serious.

so here's a sincere question... and instead of pressing my frustrations and blaming god and bla bla bla... i decided that instead of writing letters to an inactive god, i would ask your opinion!!!!!.
here's the question, looking at the world around you, seeing all the pain and frustration, the death and disease, the war and hypocricy, the starvation and disgust; generally seeing that our world is falling apart... if someone were able to irrevocably prove that there was a god, an intelligent creator is you will, would you want to worship him?
if he was there and created all of this just to watch it all implode, would you be able to respect that?
Or this view.
Concepts of the divine
Most Neopagan traditions are polytheistic, but the interpretation of the concept of deity or deities varies widely, including monist, pantheist, dualist, deist, animist, henotheist, psychological and mystical variations and interpretations.
Hutton states that the historical Pagans did not see "All Goddesses as one Goddess; all Gods as one God", but some types of modern Neopagans believe that there is but a single divinity or life force of the universe, which is immanent in the world. The various manifestations and archetypes of this divinity are not viewed as wholly separate, but as different aspects of the divine which are ineffable.

The point I'm making is that your question appears to rule out any other options. So you're kind of saying "If God exists but doesn't care, then I should probably be atheist"
Whereas I'm saying "God may exist, but he/she may be slightly more abstract than the Christian god appears to be and therefore there is no question of whether this entity "cares" "

Why not consider these alternatives?

"God" does not have to be Yahweh or Jesus.
