Song of Solomon - YEAH BABY
by philo ini just reread song of solomon for the first time in over ten years.
despite using the nwt, which butchers most biblical poetry to admiration, i was nevertheless struck its beauty.
if you haven't read it, it is about a shepherd's love for one of solomon's concubines, and it evokes a delicious, aching, tantalising, desire - yup really.

Johnsnotclearyet,
While the Spartan slaves were "wiped out" by their mighty masters the Romans when they did their exodus the Jewish slaves were practically unharmed by their mighty masters the Egyptians when THEY did their exodus, they even went on to build a nation/kingdom too among hostile nations. Sheer luck?
Which exodus was that again? Do you mean that bible story precipitated by god killing the snotty nosed evil firstborn of the Egyptians? The Exodus that left no trace, by a slave nation that left no trace? From mighty masters who don't mention that part of their history in the least? And building that nation/kindom amongst hostile nations, that is a tad easier if you have no concience about killing anything and everything in your way, save for the best lay, 'cuz god told you to, isn't it?

JW's & alternative medicine
by slipnslidemaster inin one of the threads i read today, they were talking about looking into your eyeballs to diagnose cancer and the like.
also selling herbs.. my comment and question is this: it seemed like in my congregation and the surrounding ones, alot of the sisters were into kineseology, reflexology, herbs, vitamins, color therapy, aroma therapy, etc.. alot of touchy feely hippie crap.
while i personally agree that there needs to be more synergy with eastern and western medicines, it would appear reading the boards that alot of witnesses are into this sort of stuff.. is this your experience?

Although she is "dating," she says she is still looking for "that special someone." She says, "What good is having all this success if you don't have someone to share it with?" It's a plaintive query, but one gets the feeling that Braxton will be O.K. She's wearing the pants now.
Toni baby, if you are reading this, I'm here. We have things in common. Now lets get you out of those pants.

That recent letter- what a chuckle I got out of the reply to attorney Gersten's letter to NASA, by Edward J. Weiler Associate Administrator for Space Science:
NASA does not know of any statements by Sir Arthur C. Clarke that suggest "... pretty convincing proof of the existence of large forms of like on Mars,"
Yeah, right!
NASA named the daggumed NEW MISSION to Mars, "Odyssey". ___ in tribute to Sir Arthur C. Clarke's, "2001 - A Space Odyssey".I saw that rocket blast off a couple of Saturdays ago.
If I were a nasa representative, and wanted to rebut the above, I would write this letter:
Dear Mr. Tally Dega,
We repeat, NASA does not know of any statements by Sir Arthur C. Clarke that suggest "... pretty convincing proof of the existence of large forms of like on Mars,".
Yours,
Nah Saw

BigRocksFirst
by DevilsAdvocate_DA inone day, an expert in time management was speaking to a group of business students and, to drive home a point, used a illustration those students will never forget.. as he stood in front of the group of high-powered overachievers he said,"okay,.
time for a quiz.
" and he pulled out a one-gallon, wide-mouth mason jar and set it on the table in fornt of him.. he also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar.

Well said, outnfree.
My favourite CO used to use the "big rocks first" illustration. I think it makes a pretty good point, although not necessarily a religious point. I always felt like I got more spiritual encouragement from him (that CO) than any one else in my life. He served our congregation during some of the most difficult events in my life.
I really relied on prayer during that time. I prayed for relief, for wisdom. I got much relief at times, but I also got confusion. I had the wisdom to realize that things really ARE confusing, especially for a JW. I prayed some more, I cried to my freinds, "I pray for wisdom- I get confusion, questions..", I had the wisdom to see that the Bible, read honestly, leaves one with more questions than answers.
I prayed myself right out of a religion and any firm belief in God.
I'm not confused anymore. It feels good. I can focus on the big rocks.

ttwho, my friend, if it is "all in your head", you will never know unless you are at least open to the idea that it is "all in your head".
Of course, no one wants to admit that that could possibly be true in their particular case. But think about it, things like this have proven to be "all in the head" of other people, so why not you. Please don't be so arrogant you screw yourself out of a normal, happy life. Don't be so needy you listen to You Know (it's all in his head for sure!).
Your pet theory on what your problems are have obviously not helped you. I suggest you out think this problem. You can put words together quite well, you are smart enough to fight this.
Ps. on re-reading your story, I got the idea that you could also be a rabid anti JW/fundy type who wished to play on peoples fear of demons. Something about the way this stuff happens only when you have been around JW's. True, that could easily be pyschosomatic. Or demons.
