with all the talk about the org's policies and failures regarding child sexual abuse being publically exposed in australia, i thought that it may be a good time to highlight this... i apologise if this has already been discussed, but on the 9th of july the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse in england and wales was opened.

here is some information regarding it's aims.. "about the inquiry.

the inquiry offers an unprecedented opportunity to examine the extent to which institutions and organisations in england and wales have taken seriously their responsibility to protect children.. the inquiry will investigate a wide range of institutions including:.

after reading the answers of geoffrey jackson before the rc, answers like "it is not my field", we may infer that it is possible that this guy is just a puppet in the governing body.

for instance, raymond franz reported in his books that some of the members of the gb of his time were simply followers of what fred franz thought.

so, during a decision, if freddy said some thing, many of the members would vote following him.

As a Matter of Conscience, I Am Resigning from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses

after listening to the hearings of the australian royal commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse, i am no longer content to have simply walked away from the organization.

as a matter of conscience, i do not want my name linked with the organization in any way.

i know this letter has been posted previously, and i thank the author.

Nope, elders are instructed to "call the branch" (Bethel) if any sort of legal action is threatened. In most cases, the threat of legal action defers or even indefinitely postpones any "no longer a JW" announcement.
It has worked many many times before.

Has it really???? First I've heard of it.

Because of this...

but has anyone ever challenged/tested the Org's practice of announcing that "so-and-so is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses" via International Human Rights Law.

As far as I am aware no-one has thus they see it as they are free to announce whatever.

So basically you are disassociating yourself and will be shunned and it will be announced, your legal jargon and threats will be empty to them.

"I am Happy to be Controlled" - Edinburgh Elder on Cult Cart

so my wife and i were up in edinburgh for the weekend for the international festival - we had a great weekend including going to see the military tattoo at the castle.. we were walking up the royal mile watching the street performers among hundreds of thousands of others from all over the world when i spotted the cult cart in it's usual spot being universally ignored.

feeling confident after my confrontation a couple of weeks ago we decided to go and have a chat with the two men.

i asked them if they were keeping up with the events in australia and proceeded to share lots of information with them.

Nicely done Cofty...although initially all Cofty has done is reinforced their belief that they have the true faith because you are obviously a bitter, mentally diseased apostate feeding them lies.

It's only after time that some of the points may register at a later date, in effect, Cofty is planting seeds and they rarely blossom straight away...

I've seen this with many I have spoken to including my still-in wife, everything I say about the org is apostate-driven lies then 6 months later it twigs and it registers...then hopefully at some point they start to doubt and the whole house of cards comes tumbling down.

What Cofty did is the best we exjws can do rather than any active rants or demonstrations.

Are beards allowed yet for MS and Elders??

i remember a little over 15 years ago, one of my first jobs at a grocery store, the manager was happy that they passed a new policy allowing them to grow a beard.

previously they were not allowed.

among the usa, i guess beards were considered not very professional still.

I did notice there seemed to be quite a few bearded attendants at the convention here in Scotland last week.

Indeed so did I but most we short, well kept beards and these were mostly MS folks, I wore a beard as an elder for a month after a holiday and we had to have a big elders meeting about it...I was the School Overseer so was on the platform every week so they were not amused when I went up with it...
