It didn't take long to realize the reputation of these people had been completely demonized by the Governing Body. I was terrified of apostates based on....nothing!

...let's see...the gb warns against apostates due to their ability to convince someone to leave the org...
...nothing?...
...you've confirmed the veracity of the gb's warning my friend...

By our insulting him and being critical, we can drive him away and make him feel like it's true that only those in the organization are loving. Or we could welcome him, answer him respectably, and help him to see that there is life outside of the Watchtower. Happy life. Real life. True life. Life that is not based on the rules and regulations of a man made organization that makes claims to supreme power from an ultimate authority. Belief in a God that is not the judgmental one that the Watchtower teaches.
christ alone-
...tsk, tsk...not the 'warmth' and attitude i've seen from you in other threads, christalone...
was just going through a few topics and this caught my attention, and since that thread looks pretty much dead i thought i would create a new one to add my thoughts .. so i would start by replying to as much criticisms as i can okay.
@jam: .
the purpose of the flood, because man grieved him to.
leoliaia-
You can imagine any fantasy of things happening contrary to history and then devise an all-powerful being that made it happen that way.

...leoliaia...at what point in history does man begin to imagine and conjure fantasies?...
...at what point of evolution (i don't know if you subscribe to evolution) does man or its ancestor/s begin to fathom such thoughts?...

Recovery...
...I've read about you around here...you've been deemed guilty of something very sinister it seems...
...what's your take on this place so far?...
i've been giving some thought recently to what's going on in the minds of the individual governing body members, and what makes them tick.
the process of listening to their talks for my "getting to know you" youtube video series, though draining, has been very enlightening.
i now feel i know some of their individual personalities a little better than i did previously.. then there has been the tumultuous events of 2012. it's been interesting to note the way the governing body has responded to some of these issues, and how in most cases their responses have been woefully inadequate or even counter-productive as regards their long-term interests.. for example:.
As a JW, I don't recall taking an "oath.. to keep this entity stable at any cost."

Sorry Elephant, that comment about the French was intended for people with a sense of humour.
...tsk, tsk Cedars...sorry I made you explain...

If you were looking for an evil mastermind, I would point to Splane as a far more likely candidate. He speaks with an unnerving calmness and a slightly glazed look in his eyes - quitessential bond villain if you're searching for one. And he reportedly speaks French! I could just imagine him holed up in a mountain-top fortress somewhere in the Swiss Alps stroking a cat.
...
...Cedars...tsk, tsk...what's your 'beef' with the French now?...
...i guaranty this is going to induce a few chuckles..
the governing body's decision to declare themselves the faithful and discreet slave appears pretty arrogant and presumptuous.
since most of us regard the governing body as arrogant and presumptuous, it's easy to conclude that is the reason that they did this.. what if something else is going on?.
remember when steven unthank was able to get the faithful and discreet slave charged in australia for failing to comply with the working with children act?

Why? JWs are the Fuse
Could you pick a worse fuse than a bunch of dull, poor, narrow-minded people?
...solomon...i find it almost comical to see how two minds (yours and mine) at entirely different ends of the 'spectrum' can amiably chuckle at such dramatics...

However, don't underestimate the number of JWs out there who know their doctrine and already have doubts. Hearing this "new light" might just be enough to tip a good number over the edge and stimulate them into doing research on websites like jwfacts.com. It may not be millions, but hundreds? Even thousands?Quite possibly. I can see this causing a big dent, put it that way. We'll only know by keeping an eye on the figures over the next two or three years. One thing's for sure, if people do leave because of this - it will be the Governing Body's own doing.
cedars-
...all your qualifiers sound an awful lot like those you accuse the wt of overdepending on...
Qualifiers are often necessary, such as when your evidence or your claim is open to doubt. In such cases, using a qualifier allows you to present your findings with what we can call “confident uncertainty,” which reflects a need to be cautious and critical about the data you’re presenting.
...it seems you are doing the exact same thing the wt is, and just as you belittle it for 'hijacking' the faith of the r&f, I also accuse you of bringing your r&f to your wordy essays and presenting them as facts...
...your 'attacks' are laughable to avoid describing them in more important terms...it is comical to see you swinging at decoys when underneath what you call a mere cult places its elements in place to guaranty its missions' success to the very end...DON"T underestimate the wtower's capacity of influence and tactics ...don't understimate the 'oath' that MANY have made to keep this entity stable at any cost...so that its piece of this world's puzzle is well in place...
...you stated that you've made it your mission to bring this wt to its end...every 'cause' needs its opposer Cedars...it seems you, like many, have fallen neatly into place...
