New "Annointed" Brother In My Old Hall...

i've only just stopped laughing.. in my old hall there's a brother who's now claiming to be of the anointed.. he's 28.. i do wonder if he's doing this for attention, if he's awake and messing with them, or if he really is that deluded.

when i was in he was an ms. which surprised even me because only a year earlier than that he was "a bit of a lad", is rubbish at talks and relies on his elder uncle to get him out of trouble all the time.. i guess this now means he's get his pick of jw sisters.

he's been after the same one as the rest of his peers since 2014..

Let's be real. Don't you find that most who say they're anointed are a bit "off"?

I knew quite a few self-professed anointed and nary a one would I consider normal...and I would say the same if they weren't JWs.

And by "not normal", I don't mean I am better than them. I mean the ones I knew had deep issues be it emotional, mental, delusional or otherwise.

I left the JWs in 2005ish and some time before then my congregation also had to do this.

I'm very far removed from the JWs. With that being said, when I was on the fence of whether the JWs are the "truth" or not, it was examples like this that helped me feel...in fact, know...that the JW religion is nothing other than a cult.

I hope one day your mom and sisters wake up before it's too late.

Let me compare my yesterday's Sunday with a typical JW Sunday.

Yesterday's Sunday: Woke up without an alarm (JW Sunday, alarm set for 7 AM).
Yesterday's Sunday: Ate a banana and then savored a mug of hot coffee for breakfast. Around 11:30 AM, I ate cold pizza for lunch (JW Sunday, quick bowl of cereal for breakfast, if that. Sometimes nothing).
Yesterday's Sunday: Washed a load of laundry (JW Sunday, quickly underlined answers for the WT study).
Yesterday's Sunday: Laid out on my sofa, channel surfing (JW Sunday, attending meeting, running mics or sound...thinking about lunch),
Yesterday's Sunday: Football begins and I have my snacks in hand and a tall glass of homemade iced tea. (JW Sunday, the meeting would be ending and I have to find lunch and/or go to the supermarket or run some other errand, knowing I will miss a chunk of the 1st half of my game).

I listened to the 1st hour of your wife's story (I am at work so I couldn't finish it...not yet, anyway).

She tells her story in a very calm, rational and, most importantly, non-threatening way. I think most JWs run from anything too abrasive.

i am in touch with a young, particularly uninformed portuguese sister who has been talking to my bi-lingual neighbour.

i have been telling her about some of the organisation's history, of which she is absolutely clueless, and she is open to reading this book....i mean that's how little she knows about her religions own edicts.

I am American but speak Portuguese and live in Brazil.

A few years ago there was someone here who I knew in my post-JW days and she was thinking about starting a bible study with a JW and asked for my opinion being I was a former JW. I found some translations of some excerpts from the book at that time. They still might exist. I don't remember if I found the whole book though.

And who or what is Jehovah's loving arm of support? If it's God, can't they just say "trust Jehovah"? If it's the Governing Body, are folks to put trust in man?

BREAKING NEWS | Hurricane Harvey Strikes the Gulf Coast of Texas, USA

Hurricane Harvey made landfall in the coastal city of Rockport, Texas, as a Category 4 storm on Friday, August 25. Although now categorized as a tropical storm, Harvey continues to devastate large portions of Texas from Corpus Christi to Houston. Experts forecast little change in strength over the next few days.

As of Sunday evening, August 27, there were no deaths among the brothers and sisters. However, there were four storm-related injuries reported. Commendably, the brothers living in areas impacted by the storm cooperated with the direction to evacuate. A total of 4,141 publishers are currently displaced from their homes, and it is anticipated that more families will be displaced as the storm continues.

We keep our brothers and sisters who are affected by this storm in our prayers, while monitoring the situation in order to provide assistance. We also urge them to keep trusting in Jehovah’s loving arm of support.—Psalm 55:8, 22; Isaiah 33:2; 40:11.
