  i never understood why many jehovah’s witnesses will say “the friends”.

  In the Philadelphia area, in talks it was used almost always: "so, friends, let's always...".

  Also, "the friends" was used way more than "brothers and sisters".

  Here's a way to make perfect hardboiled eggs:
  

  1. Place eggs in a large saucepan. Cover them with cool water by 1 inch. Slowly bring water to a boil over medium heat; when the water has reached a boil, cover and remove from heat. Let sit 12 minutes.

  2. Transfer eggs to a colander; place under cool running water to stop the cooking. Eggs can be peeled and served immediately.

  Rendering your spouse his/her due...What kind of foolishness is that? If your spouse boinks you because of this counsel, just go ahead and end your marriage.

  New "Annointed" Brother In My Old Hall...

  i've only just stopped laughing.. in my old hall there's a brother who's now claiming to be of the anointed.. he's 28.. i do wonder if he's doing this for attention, if he's awake and messing with them, or if he really is that deluded.

  when i was in he was an ms. which surprised even me because only a year earlier than that he was "a bit of a lad", is rubbish at talks and relies on his elder uncle to get him out of trouble all the time.. i guess this now means he's get his pick of jw sisters.

  he's been after the same one as the rest of his peers since 2014..

  Let's be real. Don't you find that most who say they're anointed are a bit "off"?

  I knew quite a few self-professed anointed and nary a one would I consider normal...and I would say the same if they weren't JWs.

  And by "not normal", I don't mean I am better than them. I mean the ones I knew had deep issues be it emotional, mental, delusional or otherwise.

  Does anyone else remember about 2014/2015 being handed a slip of paper in the hall asking how much you can send the org per month?

  I left the JWs in 2005ish and some time before then my congregation also had to do this.

  I'm very far removed from the JWs. With that being said, when I was on the fence of whether the JWs are the "truth" or not, it was examples like this that helped me feel...in fact, know...that the JW religion is nothing other than a cult.

  I hope one day your mom and sisters wake up before it's too late.

  Let me compare my yesterday's Sunday with a typical JW Sunday.
  
  

  • Yesterday's Sunday: Woke up without an alarm (JW Sunday, alarm set for 7 AM).
  • Yesterday's Sunday: Ate a banana and then savored a mug of hot coffee for breakfast. Around 11:30 AM, I ate cold pizza for lunch (JW Sunday, quick bowl of cereal for breakfast, if that. Sometimes nothing).
  • Yesterday's Sunday: Washed a load of laundry (JW Sunday, quickly underlined answers for the WT study).
  • Yesterday's Sunday: Laid out on my sofa, channel surfing (JW Sunday, attending meeting, running mics or sound...thinking about lunch),
  • Yesterday's Sunday: Football begins and I have my snacks in hand and a tall glass of homemade iced tea. (JW Sunday, the meeting would be ending and I have to find lunch and/or go to the supermarket or run some other errand, knowing I will miss a chunk of the 1st half of my game).

  alright, we're now itunes official, and the new podcast has been approved.

  the first episode is my wife's story, and after that i'll be helping others to tell their stories as well.

  my goal is to shed light on the real lives of the shunned, to tell the stories that these religions don't want you to hear.

  I listened to the 1st hour of your wife's story (I am at work so I couldn't finish it...not yet, anyway).

  She tells her story in a very calm, rational and, most importantly, non-threatening way. I think most JWs run from anything too abrasive.
