Cart "Witnessing"
by Funchback inbesides being a waste of time for those doing it, and being an easy way for the society to inflate its reports of time spent in the ministry, cart witnessing is also taking up space.
i live in a hot city in brazil.
today, the jws decided to set up their cart in the shady spot of the bus stop, where people going to work have to wait for the bus.. ugh!.

Sharing in this initiative has been very rewarding. One couple wrote: “Standing at the table and seeing thousands of people go by each day has impressed upon our hearts the vast work that is being done to reach people all around the world. Seeing these masses of people and thinking about how Jehovah truly cares for each person has strengthened our resolve to continue putting the preaching work at the center of our lives. We imagine Jehovah scanning the hearts of all those who pass by the table, searching for those who are worthy. We have rarely felt so close to our angelic coworkers.”

I have also wondered if the carts have made them unsuspectingly more vulnerable to apostates.....To a point I think Wt has given power to the apostates and has made the R&F more accessable.
I am befuddled by cart witnessing. I live on an avenue that has heavy foot trafic (it runs along the shore). Every night and every morning, they are stationed across the street from my apartment. No one talks to them except other Witnesses that pass by.
Whenever I see them, they are just standing or sitting, either talking to each other, no one or to other JWs.
Also, it's not just the avenue along the beach. In my neighborhood alone, they are in front of the supermarket, in front of the health clinic and they set up in at least two locations on the avenue along the beach. I pass them by every night because I go walking at 6:30 PM. They are always at two points on the avenue.
I would call them pests but they really aren't bothering anybody. Literally.

i remember in the 80s when, during the meeting, three friends and i were breakdancing in the foyer.
3 out of 4 us are happily out of that organization.. as i was trudging through my fade and attending meetings, i sometimes dwelled on how much time and money i wasted during my years as a jw.

- As I was trudging through my fade and attending meetings, I sometimes dwelled on how much time and money I wasted during my years as a JW. Anyway, no one knew of my doubts and sometimes I would work as an attendant in the reception area of the hall. I would often see money stuck in the donation box slot and I used a paper clip to remove them and keep them for myself. It was either for the fat cats in Brooklyn, or for myself. I chose me. I did it a few times, but it pales in comparison to how much money I had donated, in vain, over the years.
- A mentally challenged guy (he wasn't retarded, but he wasn't normal. He could only make incoherent sounds). His mom was raising him and his father was a pilot who abandoned them. He was caught masturbating in the bathroom during the meeting.
Do any of you have strange happenings in the Hall during meetings?

Thank you for sharing that. Is your pseudo-father a JW?
He allegedly dictated the Bible, actually.

Thanks, TimeBandit. My dad really is incredible! Far from the perfect father, though. But I wouldn't trade him for anyone.
Hey, TimeBandit...Do you have kids? If so, I'm sure they think the world of you.

I was born in 1970.
Growing up, I was raised by a man I proudly call father. He showed me he loved me. He taught me many of life's lessons. He hugged me. He disciplined me with words. He set clear examples for me of how to become a man, a good man, a family man. He instilled in me values and gained my trust. This man, for me, is the most incredible, amazing man that I know. He is truly my best friend. My father's name is Andre.
Contrast my dad with some other guy claiming to be my father. He entered my life when I was around 7. He basically introduced himself to me with a manifesto seemingly written by someone with issues beyond my grasp of understanding. He wrote about how he loved me, how I was special to him. He offered to be there for me in my times of need yet never once showed his face to me, even down to this very day. He has never congratulated me on my bithdays, wedding, graduation or the birth of my son five months ago. To this day, I have never heard his voice. Only pages and pages of rules, what he says is right or wrong, all the while writing things advocating violence and intolerance.
To top it off, he says that I must thank him for everything good in my life but he always blames someone else for the bad. How can I call this other person a friend, much less a father?
His guidebook, the Bible, is as hollow as he is.
I have but one Father. His name is Andre.

Here in Brazil, there are quite a few people named Jehovah (Jeová).
