  Fear and pain and death...

  do you fear death?if so,do you fear it because of the pain that is likely to go along with it?or because of what will become of your soul(your self)after death?.

  curiosly,i find that i no longer fear death.not that i want to die-i don't.but i wonder if this how i should feel.. i don't like pain,but i have a fairly high threshold of pain,i think.i'm sure there is much greater pain than what i have experienced,but though i avoid it when at all possible(including spankings...sorry chat babes),i'm not afraid that i can't deal with it if i have to.. likewise death,i just have no great fear of it anymore.i don't think that it's due to my beliefs about what will happen after i die...i don't have any.sure,i was raised a j.w.,instilled from birth with the idea that if i didn't survive armageddon,that i'd be resurrected thereafter.but i don't buy that anymore...neccesarily.nor do i believe in the heaven or hell concept...neccesarily.i do believe that if i'm the best kind of person i can be,then it will have to be good enough for whatever,if anything,lies beyond the life i'm living now.. in talking to others,though,i find very few(if any)people who don't have a pretty high degree of fear about death.it has me wondering,and i'd appreciate your comments.. cowboy.

  I have always feared death, even as a loyal regular pioneer.
  I think my fear comes from worrying I will not have done everything that I wanted to do when the time comes.
  I am of course working on getting everything done... ;)
  In these past few years, death has become, not so scary to me, since my wonderful "apostate" grandmother died of brain cancer. I have had experiences with her that have told me death is not a bad thing.
  No Im not a fruitcake... (well not a big one...)
  I never believed in angels or spirits until after her death when I had these experiences.
  I am very sceptic still about alot of things with the afterlife, but not sceptic about what I have experienced.
  So, yes I am still scared, but not as much as I was as a JW.

  Worried about my Dad in hospital :(

  we visited angharad's parents at the weekend and got a call on sunday night from her sister who'd been called by my sister as they hadn't been able to contact us .... the message was not a happy one:.

  my dad has had a heart attack and was in intensive care in hospital.. it was a while before i managed to speak to anyone over there with people probably out but i eventually spoke to his wife who says he's doing ok and has now been moved to the main ward but is being kept in as you would expect.

  he may have to be moved to calgary for some investigation / tests.. he had heart surgery about 15 years ago and i think 4 of his 5 bypasses have failed so he has to take quite a bit of medicine for pain and stuff.

  as mindchild has been a very bad apostate and has often criticized the borganization today in the spirit of fair play, i thought i would offer mine and hopefully your services to set them up with better excuses for being so ..uh, plain wrong so many times.. here are a few i thought of, can you add any more?.

  My first Christmas ornament

  last night we went to downtown seattle, to ride the annual holiday carousel.

  (the rain stopped for that whole day, thankfully) almost my entire family came, except for our youngest son and his wife, who work evenings.

  so there were 3 of our adult kids and their mates, seven grandkids, the father of one of our step granddaughters, who came from sweden for christmas, and princess' sister in law and husband who came from boston for the holidays........we jammed the elevators!!

  i was having a discussion last nice about these things.. i went out about a half hour after my dissing waas announced and got a tattoo.. who else has gotten tattos, or body piercings, or any type of body modificatoins done since leaving?.

  My tattoo really didnt hurt that much, but he told me that different places you get them hurt more than others.
  I have places i would like to get pierced, but am a little scared to go and get done ;)
