Yes, thanks Blondie, Zid and everyone! I also was kinda suprised to see the spread about the governing body with pictures of the suriving widows of the Gov Body and quotes from the current Governing Body, highlighting the names of these men. I don't remember noticing this sort of thing in the past - like maybe they are trying to familiarize the R & F with the individual GB Members and put them in a position to be more revered or admired or something. But then again, I'm noticing lots of stuff nowadays!

"all Christians serve the same King, Jehovah..."
I was squirming in my seat last Sunday when this was read. Haven't we been taught that Jesus has been King since 1914....when did WT change that? Is this the first time they said Jehovah is king since I learned "the truth" in the mid 80's? I wondered if others noticed it - couldn't ask, of course, since I'm DF'd...

over the past year my list of friends has dwindled since being disfellowshiped.
not suprising, of course.
Thanks, ya'll I appreciate the boost. There was more care and thought put into your posts then into any reply I ever got from anyone on FB!
@wha happened - I'm thinking about the possible ramifications of FB friends from JWN, my 'secret place'! But I do appreciate the suggestion.
@ Loz and Lisa - thank you both for the encouragement. I will take it to heart!

Thanks, OODAD! yes,I did - did you get the response I sent you a week ago? Thanks, Shamus. I know. I guess it's the only place where my worlds sort of came together. Now there's only the one world and I'm grateful for that. Glad that I did break the rules by having my kids particpate and have "worldly" friends and be friends with their parents.

My Saturday morning routine...sitting down with a cup of coffee to catch up on Facebook happenings. Over the past year my list of friends has dwindled since being disfellowshiped. Not suprising, of course. My FB friends now are the teens that my son went to school with - I was very active in his schooling and it was a unique school with lots of field trips and parent participation and I always helped put on plays which my kids were in. These are good kids who give me a hug when we bump into them at the mall. They still comment on my inane posts (example; it's someones birthday and I say "I'm very glad you came into the world on this day and I think very highly of you" and they thank me with a smiley face). It's all the usual meaningless crap that happens on facebook. But it just hits me again - the bonds of true affection which couldn't be broken because of an announcement from a stage in a small building some night a year ago. I know my former witness "friends" can't help it. This is quite the meaningless ramble! I guess I'm grateful to "Satan" for hooking me up with some nice, loyal, good hearted friends of my kids who show me they care by not un-friending me!

i start getting calls from elders in my hall.
i never answered them.
Elder 1: Oh no, we're not doing this...
I wonder...you're having "that" conversation with the Elders. You take the plunge down the rabbit hole, uttering any fateful combination of words or phrases which spell out APOSTATE to them. Do they try to "reason" you back from that? Does it ever work?
I appreciate your bravery - I would have been a nervous wreck! You do a great job telling your story. Oh and what were they talking about saying "we'll just announce you are no longer a JW you won't be DF'd..." If them saying that (from the stage) means your not DF'd then maybe I'm not DF'd!
the other day i overheard a conversation about jws and somebody said jws don't celebrate birthdays.
the other one said he has a few friends who are jws and while they don't celebrate their own birthdays, they do celebrate his.... then a thought crossed my mind: what if those of us who did not switch to another religion and have a somewhat non-jw lifestyle (not that hard) just keep saying we are jws?
given that there should be more ex-jws than jws by now, how would that influence the public view of jws?.
Right now I'm thinking that is the BEST idea I ever heard!
Co-worker: "I thought "Jehovahs" don't do birthdays?"
Me: "Some don't, some do...is that chocolate?"
