Where the crap...
by sleepy inhas my life gone.. i've just realised how many years i've lost ,er all of them.. that's the best years of my life given away, past me by.. i was going to live for ever never going to die.. didn't need to worry about small things like getting older, loseing time.. now i've got to make up for my lost years.. i'll probably have to start again with no friends and no family.. thanks charles tases russell , thanks a lot.

How have appointed bros handled leaving the WTS
by Leander ini'm debating on when to actually decide and step down as a ministerial servant.
my conscience will no longer allow me to give talks or speak to others in the door-to-door work.. i'm feeling really apprehensive about what i need to do, i know for a fact that my wife is going to be devestated.. .
whats the best way to step down from an appointed position?

Hi,
I'm in exactly the same position as you at this present time.
I've only spoken to my close family, well actuallt my wife let it out when we had them round for dinner, about my doubts.It turned into a very tense evening.
Anyway I have been to a meeting in three weeks or been on the min for 2 months.
I'm still an MS as far as I know.
I'm hopeing they'll take me off soon as I don't really what a confrontation at this time. -

The letter is sent now so it to late to change anything.
I dont hope to change the societies mind, the reasons for which I sent the letter are mainly that they may be people in the British Bethal who are not aware of the UN situation and may wonder why they havent been informed.
Also so that I can raise these points to friends and family and show the responce from the society to them, which if they find it unreasonable will help them question what they belive.Whether it will work or nor is another thing.
Oh yes, and also the elders in my hall are still unaware as far as I know as to why I have stopped attending meetings.
I was hopping that Bethal will send a copy of my letter to them.
If they don't it will show that they are trying to hide the UN issue from them. -

They are striving politically to maintain global peace and security and thereby keep the United Nations in existence. Jehovah’s dedicated Witnesses on earth cannot join with the world in depending upon the man-made measures that are being undertaken for the peace and security of the worldly nations. They take to heart the words of James 4:4: "Adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? It is my understanding that the application to become a NGO was signed by a member of the governing body .
I don’t think I need to explain why this issue raises concern in me.
Please can you confirm the information provided is correct.
Also please explain why this has been kept from the knowledge of Jehovah’s witnesses in general and also why this seemingly hypocritical situation has been allowed to exist?My second point of concern is in regard to a statement found in the Aug 1 W 2001 pg 14 p8.
Talking of mature Christians it says,
"He does not advocate or insist on personal opinions or harbour PRIVATE ideas when it comes to bible understanding."
A dictionary definition of harbour is :Keep in ones mind.
So we are told we are not to keep in mind private ideas as regard to the bible.
That is , ideas that we tell no one about , only we ourselves know them.
Therefore we must think only what the faithful and discrete slave tells us to think as regard to the bible even if it does not make sense to us or we have seen other evidence that contradicts the teachings of the watchtower publications.
Compare this to the statement found in the July 1 2001 W pg 18 p 3.
"Religious exhortations to the effect that you should just believe and should doubt nothing are dangerous and deceptive."
I find the statement found in the Aug 1 Watchtower to be a religious exhortation that I should believe what the faithful and discrete slave say through the publications and that I should not doubt what they say , even to the extent that I give my mind over to them and not even think differently to them even if I feel I have reason to do so.
Therefore I find the evident contradiction found in the Watchtower publications troubling.
Consider the statement made by the Christ Jesus at Matt :23,10.
"Neither be called leaders, for your leader is one, the Christ."
What is the difference between being called leaders and acting as such?
A leader is simply "a person or thing that leads."
Are the faithful and discreeet slave appointed to lead our minds, or to help us?
Have not the watchtower publications said in the past that they are only "helps"
in bible understanding?I trust that you understand why these above mentioned facts have been of great trouble to my mind. I anticipate that you will consider what I have written and will be able to justify the stand taken by the watchtower society by means of a reasonable explanation.

i ask this in trying to understand why some chose to leave and some stay or why some work out its not the truth and some never will.. i feel know that i have always felt differently to many jw's.. one of the ways was in how i delt with the "truth".. i always though that to belive things you must have evidence to back it up .. i just thought the evidence was there.. i now know it wasn't.. but many witnesses strongly belive in faith, that not to have faith is a weekness.. but anyone from any religion could say they have strong faith in what they belive.then they are critecized for not looking at the evidence.. a lot of witneeses i know just feel they know it is the truth or feel some gratitude to the organisation for changing their lives and so stick to them.. once a witnesses came up to me and said i've heard you're having doubts.. he then told me that he'd do anything the society asked.to quote him he said" if they told me to wear a pink shirt with green spots i'd do it".
i've never thought like that when i was a believer and almays though that i"d only do things that were reasonable.. i was often critacized for looking too deeply into things.i considered it neassesaryto do reserch before giving talks when a lot of people are willing just to resite the literature.. so are those that leave any different to the "true believers", or do all have the ability to see things for what they really are.. will this un business be the bigest stir ever.i hope so.. i just hope that all have the ability to recognise the falsehoods they have been tuaght and it is not just a few who have that ability.
