  Letting JW relatives go....revisited

  some of you might remember i posted my thoughts on why, after years of shunning, and me continually trying to establish contact with the jw relatives that do this, i finally decided it was healthier for me to let them go and stop doing that.

  this was especially true in the case of my younger brother, who was more like a best friend.

  we spent a lot of time together before my extricating myself from the watchtower, including vacations and lots of weekends.

  i'm supposed to be working, but can't seem to get away from this freakin' board!!!

  can anyone help me or give advice as to how they limit their time here.

  i do really well when i'm out of the office meeting with clients, but when i'm at my desk i'm a lost cause.. simon, i can't get enough of your place!!!

  newsflash!! WTBS CD-ROM 2001

  yesterday an announcement was made at my local con.

  and i thought i`d share it.. the watchtower announced that work on the new cd-rom is in progress and we can expect it at the end of this year.. unlike the other versions you can`t get away with win 3.1, you`ll now need at least win95.. available languages: the one already available + tjech and japanese.. some of it`s features:.

  - one window (instead of several).

  it was made very clear that the CD-ROM was NOT available for the public, only for JW`s in 'good standing'. (I think this research help is often turned against them

  Has anyone tried Jolt? Twice the caffeine of ordinary Coke. Do they still sell it, or has it been outlawed?

  Around here, they've been selling Jolt and with flavors too.

  Jolt in a block of Lucite was a programming award for Programmers Journal for the longest time.

  Greg Stafford's New Book Has Shipped

  today i received greg stafford's new book three dissertations on the teachings of jehovah's witnesses.

  for those who don't know, stafford has been a staunch defender of the watchtower society's teachings for at least six years, on the net and in print.

  his previous book, jehovah's witnesses defended (1998, 2000), is a milestone in pro-jw literature.. the new book is a radical departure from stafford's previous book in that he strongly questions the society's doctrines about blood transfusions, the basis for the claim of spiritual authority by jw leaders, the necessity for christians to believe the society's 1914 doctrine, and issues of "legalism" including the propriety of requiring "time" in the field ministry to be reported, and even the supposed scriptural basis for the society's ban on celebrating birthdays and christmas.

  1.) I'm not surprised that Brother Jenson hasn't been disfellowshipped. However, I would be surprised if the entire tenor of his association with both his local congregation and higher upstream hasn't changed. I would be very surprised if he's not experiencing being "marked" first hand now. I'm sure he's still in his position as an elder, but his duties have been trimmed significantly.

  2.) Brother Stafford will be "marked" as well if he hasn't been already for his first book. I think that this book is a little bit more on the "apostate" side and that the Society will move against him in an attempt to "keep the congregation clean". I sincerely don't think that he's long for the Witness world.
