august 18, 2018. on the weekend of the 11th and 12th of august over 100 people from 13 countries, including seven australians, gathered on the grounds of excel london and held a peaceful and colourful protest to coincide with the jehovah’s witnesses ‘be courageous’!

well today marks the beginning and biggest day of our protest at the london excel.. we believe it's a record number at around 100 exjws at the front door.. we spoke to lots of jw's and one young man studying who has quit after talking to us.

we've been approached privately by jw's who thanked us for coming and the security at the event treated us very well.. if anyone wants to see some clips they are available on my channel the great apostate.. thanks to all for the support and love..

I was never a Jehovah's Witness, but I want to chime in.

There's no need for this infighting, it accomplishes nothing and only breaks down the solidarity ex-Witnesses enjoy here, endangering the community this site offers exiting and doubting Witnesses.

On the one hand, I find it hard to believe that this protest will backfire by strengthening the faith of Jehovah's Witnesses. It will most likely have a negligible effect on most, who don't need a protest to feel persecuted: the convention program features several videos which highlight such 'persecution in Russia and Malawi, for instance.

On the other hand, I understand posters' concerns that the protesters themselves may still be allowing their old faith to influence them and that these efforts keep them from healing. This is something the protesters certainly should consider, but a single protest, in and of itself, proves nothing. Everyone is different.

In the article the author writes:

"This is more hopeful than it sounds. Rather than an Armageddon of death and fire, Witnesses say they believe the current, corrupt world will be replaced by a living heaven on earth, not a paradise obtainable only after death."

But Jehovah's Witnesses teach that Armageddon will be exactly that, death and fire for non-Witneses...

I just want to start by saying you didn't do anything wrong, and you have nothing to feel ashamed of. Don't let these people judge you for doing something normal and healthy with your boyfriend.

That being said, there's nothing worse than being forced against your will to participate in a faith you find harsh and judgmental. Leave as soon as you can. Keep saving money and move in with your boyfriend when you're ready. And I would encourage you not to let the congregation or your parents know of these plans.

The future of young Witnesses

and i wondered what would happen to those children, what they would experience at school and in their adult life.

i wondered if they would grow up repressed and anxious and fearful and full of guilt like i did, although i was not raised a witness.

That's true, and I appreciate that reminder. Around 2/3rds of young Witnesses leave by young adulthood. I just know that early experiences shape you, that's something I'm still trying to come to terms with years later, and I wish they wouldn't (most likely) have to work through that baggage. It's depressing.

And I wondered what would happen to those children, what they would experience at school and in their adult life. I wondered if they would grow up repressed and anxious and fearful and full of guilt like I did, although I was not raised a Witness. I wondered if they would leave or stay, and what they would have to look back on at the end of their lives.

I thought about saying something, but I wouldn't know what to say, and I didn't feel it was appropriate. I just hope things turned out all right for them.

Newspaper reports: Dutch government will initiate inquiry into child abuse within JW community

today a dutch newspaper published an in-depth follow-up item on jw abuse issues.. the most interesting part of the article is this:.

the politicians also let themselves be heard.

a month ago the house of representatives voted unanimously in favor of a motion to enforce an independent inquiry into abuse within the jehovah's witnesses, as the organization refuses to initiate it.

I get that this guy pisses everybody off, but I would really encourage other posters to stop responding to him. He's a sophist of the worst kind. The investigation will go on and should go on no matter what 'Doubter' has to say.
