Can someone help me with this?.......When the WTC garage was first bombed back in the 1990's, they evacuated everyone, I believe, from the north tower. The estimate of those evacuated at that time was apprx. 28,000 people. How is it that BOTH TOWERS were brought down on 9/11 and there were only 3000 casualities?

Why do some of you get so worked up over this, JW's control relies on lack
by Its so simple inpersonal growth.
most people are angry at themselves for not seeing it sooner and they just blame the wtbs.
if it was not them there would be something else that 'filled their need' and would have ensnared them.

Simple,....actually, a good post. I've come to learn that it's very important for me to take a personal inventory and see what part I am responsible for. As an adult, I need to be aware of what was going on in my life that allowed me to "willingly" co-operate with the abuse from the WBTS. It doesn't exonerate them for their deeds, nor does it fix the consequences in my life from years of affiliation. But it can, in some way, keep me from hopefully falling victim to a similar circumstance.

BUSH - "No excuse, 'I was just following orders.'"
by confuzcious indid anyone else pick up on bush's quote?.
"no excuse that i was just following orders..." (to the iraqi army).
i thought that was interesting since the parallel is that if anyone (elder, organization, watchtower) says anything contrary to the bible, we can't use that excuse either.

This is a principle that applies equally to Iraqi soldiers AND American troops.

The real victims of "peace"
by expatbrit inthe victims are the children, of course.. in 1999 unicef (the united nations children's fund) conducted a survey in iraq to determine the effect of sanctions on iraq, imposed by the united nations.. what had sanctions done?the surveys reveal that in the south and center of iraq -- home to 85 per cent of the country's population -- under-5 mortality more than doubled from 56 deaths per 1000 live births (1984-1989) to 131 deaths per 1000 live births (1994-1999).
likewise infant mortality -- defined as the death of children in their first year -- increased from 47 per 1000 live births to 108 per 1000 live births within the same time frame.
the surveys indicate a maternal mortality ratio in the south and center of 294 deaths per 100,000 live births over the ten-year period 1989 to 1999. .

BTW.......savvy officials throughout the world are very concerned about this "pre-emptive war" mentality. Setting the precedent of " since I am the badest dude around, I know whats best for y'all" can have some very negative consequences. In a perfect world, where one hopes the powerful are morally guided, such a policy would work. Imagine how this will play out even in our own streets when every other "dude" firmly believes he has the moral high-ground and "pre-emptively" acts as judge, jury, and executioner.

Thanks H.S. for an enlightening post......not for a minute have I believed the White House spin on the "human rights" issue. Madison Ave. execs can take a real lesson in salesmanship from this administration.

Saddam will be given 48 hours to get out
by freedom96 inpresident bush will appear on tv tonight, and give saddam one last chance.
he can save his country from war, and also save his life, if he leaves iraq.. he will be given 48 hours, or suffer the consequences.
if he really cares for his family, his people, his life, he will leave.

oh yeah, I was a little disappointed that in George's speech last nite, I didn't hear the obligatory watchwords, " Boothill, Hoss, and ' Make my day' ".

Bleeding heart tree hugging war protesting liberals
by LuckyLucy inyesterday bush passed the bill that prohibits partial birth abortions.
it amazes me that these bleeding heart tree hugging war protesting liberals find nothing wrong with murdering a baby that is almost at full term.they proclaim to care about the children in the middle east ,yet here in their own country they see nothing wrong with murdering a baby.
makes me sick !

Whoa girl!!!
Slow down on the sensationalism. Please don't confuse issues with such a sweeping generalization. You've grouped a whole lot of people into one gooey package. It just isn't that black and white.

Disfellowshipped
by Descender injust wondering, how many of you were a glutton for punishment and kept on going back and getting re-instated after succesive disfellowshippings?
i was disfellwshipped twice, the first time i was re-instated six months after and then six months later i was df'd again, then i came back in 4 years later and then a year later i faded away.
that's where i stand at the moment.

I know a brother who was df'd twice. After the second, he had an epiphany. He realized that the Witnesses would be more than willing to continue this cycle into infinity, and that if he was ever going to get real help for his problems, he better make a clean break from that org. Today he is not perfect, but his life is truly on a spiritual path, sans JW's.
