Being your own best friend!
by LDH intonight while reading sheila m's post about thunder's parents not even saying anything nice to him when he got his book published, put me in mind of something i've been thinking for a while.. today, all you hear about is "self-esteem" this and "self-esteem" that---a lack of it causes everything from suicide to eating disorders and everything in between.
i believe concerned parents today are much more in tune with rewarding postitive behavior by reinforcing it through praise.. as a jw child, what special assaults on your self-esteem did you suffer and how did you deal with it?.
in short, are you your own best friend?

Just another example of how adherents of a religion that claims to cherish family structure, will stoop to such deceit. It probably didn't even occur to them that they were doing that poor child great emotional harm by using her in their scam.Their protestations of how they so love "their young ones" is once again sadly transparent. Stay strong, stay focused, don't panic, and thank god for this site.

I think many people don't understand what is meant by the term "pedophile paradise". It doesn't necessarily refer to the quantity of molesters ( although the Witnesses have their share ) but more specifically to the conditions of an organization that offer opportune operations for pedophiles seeking workable surroundings. Unfortunately, the WBTS's inane policies lend themselves to such an environment. Not all of us get to live in paradise, and not all molesters make their way into Jehovah's Witnesses. But for those that do, it is a real "paradise".

Seems strange that after all these years "they" still feel the need to contact you with such vapid reasoning, oh well.......yes, I too feel that an "end" could come at any time, but once again, nothing that the WBTS has said or done proves they are a true prophet and nothing that they have said or done is going to afford them any special protection if and when that time comes. nuff said. Bay Area Dubs

she was telling me about them and made the comment of them being different from the stuffy here in fresno.

Interesting post........Whether true or false, the reality for me is pretty much the same. If true, it just shows how the WBTS's claim to "united in conduct" by the worldwide brotherhood is bogus. And if false, it begs the question, " Why do some dubs use the old ' Were just like everyone else ' to attract those (such as yourself ) who have been told that Witnesses are different/better than society in general?" Either way, for a person such as myself, needing sufficient doses of honesty to nuture what spirituality I do have, I need to put a great deal of distance between me and any organization so rife with contradictions.

One of the molesters in our area (elders son), was given the ol' WBTS special treatment: private reproof, some restrictions, but all talk of the crime was considered malicious gossip. Perp was allowed to sign for the deaf, including prayer. The real hard pill to swallow was all the friends of the family thrusting young children into his arms to "show" those of us with concerns, just how wrong our perceptions were of his "problem".
