I consider myself middle?????
Is that the definition of "The middle of nowhere?
i notice they commented that "we" should not sympathise with protestors, like the protestors are always right.
sometimes i feel a protest would be a good place for a machine gun, because i do have feelings on different things.
despite their stated neitral stance, the wt is left leaning.

so i’m just reading the part in ray franz book “crisis of conscience” about the 1925 prediction of “millions now living will never die”.. ofcourse all witnesses are very familiar with this campaign.
yet none of us ever had an issue with it, including myself.
since the booklet was published in 1920, we are one year away from 100 years from that time.
Awake! 11/8/1974:
"Today there is a great crowd of people who are confident that a destruction of even greater magnitude is now imminent. The evidence is that Jesus’ prophecy will shortly have a major fulfillment, upon this entire system of things. This has been a major factor in influencing many couples to decide not to have children at this time. They have chosen to remain childless so that they would be less encumbered to carry out the instructions of Jesus Christ to preach the good news of God’s kingdom earth wide before the end of this system comes.—Matt. 24:14."
i am still enjoying the luxury of weekends to do whatever i want....but....out of habit i am still obsessed with looking at the weather for saturday mornings.
rain on a saturday morning was a very rare treat and we got the morning off, although as group leader, i still had to go to the group just in case somebody turned up.. does anybody else still watch the weekend forecast with interest?
(i am aware that this is probably a uk thing as we are obsessed with the weather ha ha).
Today's forecast has storm warnings this morning where I live.
Expect a caller in the next couple of hours if you happen to be the RV of a zealous JW!
some witnesses realize that they got into a religion and it turned out to be disastrous.
many decide they have to somehow get out.
some do it right away and others take longer.. where are you in your journey?
There are a variety of reasons that may make leaving difficult.
Some find it easier to just, go to Church at the Kingdom Hall. In other words, you will agree with some of what is said and disagree with much. Christendom has had people doing this for years. How many Catholics really believe birth control is wrong?
Even a person who is basically PIMO might choose to remain an elder to try to plant his beliefs on others. It will eventually end because he will be called out for individual thinking, something totally forbidden for hard liners.
Live and let live.
l recently went to watch green book , which l thought was excellent , it had everything , it took me though the whole range of emotions , from anger to joy , laughing then wanting to cry .
the quiet dignity of dr shirley mixed with volatile nature of tony lipp and seeing their emerging friendship was wonderful .
what really shook me was that these attitudes existed in my lifetime , not that long ago .
Just....Wow! And "Collage?"
col·lage
What am I missing here? I don't get it.
the new study edition watchtower is up, and most of it is devoted to child abuse damage control.. https://www.jw.org/en/publications/magazines/watchtower-study-may-2019/.
Look at the pictures. When was the last time you saw a "mature Christian Sister" sitting in on a Shepherding call from the elders with an abused Sister?
Why?
Well think back to the Australian Commission and their insistence that women should be involved in the process or helping victims of abuse. Do you really think you would see that picture if it wasn't for the Commission's direction? No way!
Having said that, I don't think that what is being illustrated in any way complies with the direction from the commission but it definitely does show something I don't recall ever seeing before in a JW publication.
after observing my jehovah's witness friends and family members for over 50 years it became apparent that the vast majority of "the brothers and sisters" pick and choose the rules and laws that their church/organization what them to follow.. tough the society may state these admonitions as definite "do's and don'ts" many of the church followers put these admonitions in the the "grey zone.".
the reason being jehovah will give them special dispensation.
yes, for some odd reason jehovah will cut these people some slack for the same things he must punish others for.
The WT started to get ahead of itself......
You phrased it perfectly. That describes so much of JW Teachings. Mother's Day, Birthday's Thanksgiving etc. No direction in the Bible but somehow it's wrong.
Of course, I think that the tendency to pick and choose what works for you is a common one. How many Catholics actually believe that birth control is really wrong? How many Evangelistic Christians really believe there is a burning Hell?
The problem is that if you are a JW and you VOICE these dilemmas, you are in danger of shunning. Why, because you are in disagreement with "present Truth", you may not be in disagreement with "future Truth" but that's another matter all together.
It is summed up best by this Scripture:
"when the perfection and fullness of God's kingdom arrive, all the parts will end. 1 Corinthians 13:10 The Voice Translation
In other words their own Scripture tells them they don't have the complete Truth now and yet they judge others as if they do. And this is true in many areas where there is no Scriptural direction or admonition at all. Where is that verse, "thou shalt only do Missionary?"
They seem to want to stand out as different in every way. It ends up making them appear foolish to thinking people.
i was driving along through a quiet neighborhood on a saturday morning ( yesterday )and , looky-looky, two dubs.i recognized one of them, complete asshole, exbethelite, can i say his name?it's not important.i rolled up, downed the window and "hey!
"they spun around and i continued, "what are you going to do about all those pedophile lawsuits all over the world?
the two witness rule is wrong and so are you!
"I'm no coward." :...…. He said as he stood up to those scary men and drove away! It would be funny if it so isn't.

Childish
i sneakily read his books at work.
it was written in such a way that no one could accuse him of being another bitter old apostate.. once it registered in my brain, especially after reading the second book, i knew i had to get out!.
A number of years ago, about 25 yrs ago now, I did business with a man who was a re-activated JW after being DF. We just had a short conversation. He told me that while he was DF he had read Ray Franz's book CofC. I was an elder and he knew that, and he told me it was eye opening and very revealing. Not much more was said, but after I read it for myself, I wondered, why he ever went back to get reinstated. Of course, it could have been family pressure etc.
What I remember most was the way he portrayed the book as honestly written and eye opening. Up until that time and for some years later I had expected a vengeful hate ridden memoir from Franz. How refreshing when I read for myself the honest portrayal from a man who truly did suffer a "Crisis of Conscience."
