  so the end was going to come by 2000 as documented in the magazines back in the late 80's early 90's.. so how did they get the time off so badly ( over two decades and still nothing) since the gb is jehovah's earthly mouthpiece right ?

  "Millions now living will never die" was from Rutherford's speech at the 1922 convention, if memory serves. I think it was modified to "may never die" at some point in order to soften the impact, though they also decided to forget Rutherford's predictions regarding the return of the 'worthies' in 1925, which would presumably precipitate the end. When that is taken into account, you can understand why he was so confident in his 1922 claim.

  Then he got it wrong, and most of it was either forgotten or modified (and then forgotten).

  Who would those be? You imply that there is as strong a case being made for either concept (chance versus design), but is that the case? There are evolutionary biologists who believe in god. How many of them are producing peer-reviewed papers on evolution that mention the role of god, or 'design'?

  My point is that yes, bias is inherent in everyone's approach and opinions. Science attempts to minimize that through a rigorous process of testing, documentation, and peer-review. Science can get things wrong in the short term, but over a longer period of time it refines what it knows as more is learned and more people investigate. The theory of evolution has more than 150 years of such work put into it. Thousands of scientists, more than a century of effort, countless man-hours of research and review. No god. No intellect. No design.

  I don't think the two approaches are anywhere near to being equally supported at this point.

  Jan, emergency care is rarely not provided to those in need, regardless of insurance status. But a lot of non-emergency care, especially preventive care like check-ups, or important items like prescription medication, requires insurance or a cash payment. The system here is built around insurance, so it can be very difficult to even understand how much care actually costs, even before determining if it is affordable. This is exacerbated by an odd system wherein insurers are limited in terms of the regions they can serve with health insurance, a limitation not normally placed on other types.

  AI would work quite well for the simple and clear pictures they prefer to use in their magazines and leaflets. Not only would they not have to worry about the status of anyone in the pictures, they could create some really gruesome images for their Armageddon articles!

  Didn't we used to provide emergency contacts when we filled out the 'no blood' cards? Since we signed those and had an additional witness signature, would that be legally sufficient for sharing certain information?

  Asking questions is not always synonymous with seeking answers. Some people prefer to keep asking questions when they don't like the answers.

  I cannot convince you how an automobile engine works, because I don't know enough about them. But there is no shortage of people who can explain the concepts, so that I have no excuse for assuming that it runs on some form of magical energy. The people who know, all agree on the concepts and the science behind them.

  In the same vein, I can't convince you of how strong or accurate the theory of evolution is, because I don't know enough about it. But the people who do know appear to have no doubt and can explain it, as evidenced by the endless scientific papers, and books, and easily-accessible videos on the subject from scientists (and biologists in particular). If you're only seeking the outliers, the people who make claims but don't have the science to back it up, then you're not seeking answers, you only want to ask questions.

  hebrews 6:4-8. for it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the holy spirit, 5 and have tasted the goodness of the word of god and the powers of the age to come, 6 and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the son of god to their own harm and holding him up to contempt.

  7 for land that has drunk the rain that often falls on it, and produces a crop useful to those for whose sake it is cultivated, receives a blessing from god.

  8 but if it bears thorns and thistles, it is worthless and near to being cursed, and its end is to be burned.. but then i read articles that say that you cannot lose your salvation and that this scripture isn't talking about that.. but then 2 timothy says.

  I am much more comfortable with an indifferent god who sees this universe as an experiment, than the ones described in many religious texts. Gods that are powerful enough to fashion magnificent and massive universes, yet are deeply concerned with making sure that the beings on one tiny speck blindly recognize their greatness, on pain of eternal torment... that sounds like one very disturbed individual. Not the sort of person I'd want hovering over me, ready to judge me for eternity.

  I would more urgently need to be saved from such a creature.
