Right now, it looks like the only things known for sure is that the WTS posted a notice that 'Brother Morris' was no longer serving on the GB, and that they took the notice down. Everything else is speculation. I'll give them this much, there really hasn't been much info leaked as far as I can tell. For something this momentous, the rumor mill is starving for any tidbit, but there's really not much being tossed out there.
i just heard japan bethel has had a police raid?.
something about children but i don’t know the details .
anyone here got any info on this latest police raid?
There is a reddit post that describes the police raid as an unsubstantiated rumor: https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/11dokuq/japan_news_today_japan_copy_the_prosecutor_of/
Mostly, what you can find is about a group of lawyers representing JWs or exJWs who are accusing the organization of promoting or condoning child abuse by encouraging parents to refuse blood transfusions. Others are claiming that they were beaten as children by their parents (presumably as a disciplinary measure) which they consider to be child abuse.
study article 22 is headed.
"keep traveling on the "way of holiness".
this article states that since 1919, having left babylon the great in that year, jws today are traveling on 'the way of holiness" (a figurative highway) as it takes them through the spiritual paradise and leads them through to future kingdom blessings.. they say that 'preparatory work' of that highway began centuries earlier.
I was under the impression that we can't really know the exact spelling of the Hebrew God's name, since the way they wrote it was abbreviated for any manuscripts that we have found. And the ancient Hebrew language did not have the letter "J", so any name that uses that letter in English is 'wrong' in the same way that "Jehovah" is wrong. Is any of this incorrect?
I would think that there is a bigger concern with promoting the idea of a God who wants a personal relationship with us, but doesn't seem to care if we get His name right. Or maybe that's the point: God is God, the name doesn't really matter because He knows what you mean when you speak of Him.

Almost anything can be material for a stand-up routine. What makes some comedians successful is the ability to tell a funny story. Simply pointing out absurd or funny things won't impress an audience-- ordinary, 'non-funny' people do that all the time. You want a comedian to entertain you. Dave Chapelle is successful because he's a master storyteller. Think of the comedians who make you laugh, and they know how to tell a story.
"My religion didn't let me masturbate" is not, in and of itself, a funny or non-funny concept. It has a ton of promise, though, because people love taboo subjects. And someone who has a talent for telling funny stories would never run out of laughs. The idea of preaching door to door? Put that in the hands of your favorite comedian and imagine what they could do with it. They'd probably have the room falling out of its chairs from laughter.
Evans might be able to learn the craft. I tend to doubt it, mostly because he cannot laugh at himself and he bristles at any kind of criticism, which he would need to heed in order to improve. I just can't imagine someone being good at comedy if they cannot laugh at themselves.
the jws i know (which admittedly are more liberal than most) are suddenly into prepping to one degree or another.
some have simply assembled "go bags" with basic common sense supplies in case they need to bug out in the event of a natural disaster and others seem to be seriously into it, almost to the degree to which mormons are.
backup generators and a year's supply of food and water).
Seems like a good practice to me, to keep a bag ready for emergencies. Just have to remember to update it every year or so, so that you don't end up with a bag of useless junk in an emergency.

smiddy3: And still we wonder .and speculate .........Why ?
Well, it's one of the most predictable human behaviors. Why wouldn't people be wondering and speculating, given the circumstances?

I think Lloyd is a scumbag but I watch his videos from time to time.
I think he's a scumbag and I don't watch his videos anymore. Technically, you're more obsessed than I am.
i remember having read somewhere, but i cannot find it anymore, that it is possible to debunk the 1914 calculus using only jw publications, like "insight on the scriptures" (chronologies) for example.. do you have any sources about that to suggest to me?.
thanks..
As an aside, that list of translations of a single verse that MeanMrMustard listed makes me wonder just how far off any translation of the Bible is from the original writings (which, as I understand it, have never been found). If all of these varied translations are from relatively few manuscripts, then it shows how difficult it is to get a consensus (impossible, by the look of it). If there are many manuscripts available to translate from, then are those also varied in what they say and how they say it?

I'm glad to see him gravitating away from JW-related content. That's what people have been hoping for, after all. I think it would be good for him to turn his YT channel into the Lloyd Evans Watch As I Struggle Through Life Show and forget that he ever was a JW. Maybe his future videos will feature tips on coloring your hair, losing weight, and learning to deal with rejection (on stage, I mean, although...).
