i had a thought about neutrality...how we were never to take sides on political issues, say by voting.
how does that square with the letters we were asked to write to various lawmakers in countries-not too many years ago we were ask to write to russian officials.
i wonder if there is to be a letter writing to norway.
I think it began as a way of codifying the stance against military service. I'm not sure when or how it was extended to activities like voting or serving on any sort of political body.
hi everyone i’m not pimi or pimo i’m pima.. i don’t think the gb have everything right but i’m sitting on the fence that maybe they do some things.. if the great trib starts i will jump that side of the fence.. this is a definite little sneaky advantage dodging but even by their own doctrine last min some could come in.. i suspect many are like me.. i spent years in bethel and am very disappointed and disillusioned by it all.. but at the end of the day i love the bible and think it is the word of god and i don’t see any other religion that comes as close to what jesus describes his true followers or who are fulfilling mat 24:14..
If the great trib starts I will jump that side of the fence.
Hmmm, will Jehovah be okay with that?

Holy crap, he's a fucking idiot. This is what they said:
"We'd particularly like to hear from you if you are aged 18-35"
See that? 35 is not the upper limit. They just want to hear from more people in the 18-35 range because, as they explained to him, that age group was not engaging as much. He feels that the older demographic might feel slighted... even though they have already taken part in greater numbers, which is why they are asking for more engagement from 18-35 year-olds.
I mean, really... he's a fucking idiot.
this has been announced on the jw's official website, in the "jw news" section.
this is not a joke.
anthony moron da turd is out as a gluttonous body member!
I just don't understand why they removed it. It was short, to the point, and innocuous. If they had to make a statement (and I think this is an event that required it), then that was the best that you could expect. Taking it down doesn't make sense to me. That was only going to stir up more rumors and gossip.
kingdom halls will be the thing of the past.. conventions (mini assembly halls will still be going on) but will charge for attending and parking and always a donation.
elders will play a much smaller role since csa.
cart preaching will replace door to door.
I can't imagine them stopping the door-to-door work, unless they find an adequate replacement. If they cannot recruit people at a sufficient pace, growth will slow and incoming money will slow and that could start them on the long road towards irrelevance.
Money seems to be the real issue, since they have the large recording site and other offices both in the USA and around the world. They also are dealing with CSA cases and those are a drain on resources even before any potential settlements or verdicts. I suppose they could scale things back and keep selling real estate in order to keep their heads above water. But it's kind of a snowball effect-- spending less money means less output and lower quality, which can make it harder to get more money, and so on.
But I get the impression that there are many small Christian denominations that broke off from the Adventists and JWs and are much smaller and lesser known, and they have survived for a very long time. The WTS could conceivable shrink and become small but still exist and still exert tight control over the membership. They would not be very relevant anymore, but they'd still be around.
.......you will experience a fate worse than death!
you have been warned - don't come crying to me if you don't go.
you've got one month to change your mind.
Isn't sitting through a memorial service already a fate worse than death?

Rhiannon: Will he ever find someone?
Do not underestimate the number of women with low self-esteem in the world. They are drawn to abusive men.
during today's wt: "satan has the world on a treadmill wearing blinders"..
Projection is pretty standard for the WTS. Their approach is that, since they are the chosen who are guided by God through His Holy Spirit, they are right and everyone else is wrong. So they see themselves, not as oppressive leaders guiding the blind, but as open and honest servants who teach their followers to seek God with an open mind. It is everyone else who misleads the sheep, because those leaders are themselves under the Devil's thrall.
They do not feel even the slightest discomfort when they speak of others being oppressive and controlling and blind leaders.
i can agree that satan doesn't see god as a good ruler as stated at gen 3:1-5. he doesn't seem to see gods laws as right or good.
but whether there is an understanding/agreement between god and satan afterward to the effect that he can take the mantle of rulership to show whether his style is best is doubtful.
that conclusion is probably reached because god hasn't destroyed satan, and he is also called the ruler of the world in the bible.
Linda14: That time lag makes the wicked and Satan to cause problem for the just.
If Satan and his followers are wicked and those who follow God are just, then the proper outcome would be for God (and justice) to prevail over Satan (and wickedness). One wonders why God would allow wickedness to spread over the world at the expense of justice, but we can also recognize the story as a way of explaining why humanity is in the shape it's always in. It's not a great story, but we're talking of a time when editing documents was a very rare thing indeed.
Satan is an odd character. He challenges God and leads humanity away from him, even though he must realize that the story can only end one way. Satan is a tiny speck in a massive universe that was shaped by the hand of the person he has chosen to oppose. God can (and, in the story, promises to) undo the Devil's damage at any point and restore order to the universe. One wonders what principle the Devil stands for. But, when your life story is a sloppy amalgamation of many old tales and themes, I suppose this is the best we can hope for.
In any case, the issue of sovereignty is -in the case of the Abrahamic God- a case of "might makes right." Had Satan's cause been just and God been wicked, God wins anyway. Right and wrong come into play mostly because we don't want the winner and ultimate power to be wicked. And not even just, in some cases. So God is also presented as merciful. And kind. And loving. And so on. This seems to happen as a progression, as if the people defining God realized at some point that their early depictions were quite scary, and they needed to tone Him down just a bit.
