If a person is transgender and gets saved what will they go to heaven as?
by Nikorasu95 ini know this is a stupid question because the answer is obvious, but if a person was born a male and gets transgender surgery to turn into female will that person go to heaven as a male or female if they died saved?
i think they will go to heaven with the gender they were born with.

Hothabanero: The Palestinians have killed jews for decades.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but you might want to read the Bible to see who started that particular fucking mess. BTW, it goes back almost four thousand years, not "decades."
Get the clue or STFU. Your ignorance is showing, bigly.

Talk to my Dad about beards.
by LovingLifeNow inso i spoke to my elder dad the other day, and he asked if i still am sporting a beard.
i said yes, then i said, "i thought the society said its ok to have a neat trimmed beard now?
" he said "no, no, no..if you read the article , it says in countries where it is accepted" so my response was "ummm, its pretty accepted here in america"..which he says "it reflects your spirituality" "if another wittness saw you, they would know you are weak"...i was like, "ok, i don't get it, and i follow christ/god, not men..." then he said in his hall" if a brother came in with a beard , he would not have privelages" then i just gave up, and tried to change the subject..ugggggggggg if these people would just listen to themselves , they would see the sillyness of there teachings...

If these people would just listen to themselves
That's the problem right there, they don't.
As for stumbling others, ask anyone that claims to be stumbled or that someone else is to read Psalm 119:165.
And then ask, "So who exactly is the spiritually weak one?"

Fatherless Boys
by JW_Rogue inthe wt teaches that "fatherless boys" need special care and attention in the congregation.
however, as brought out at the rc their definition of "fatherless boys" includes boys that have actual fathers who maybe very well qualified to teach and raise their sons.
according to wt, if either of your parents aren't jws then you are a "fatherless boy.

This religion, as is true of any cult, actively seeks to break appropriate familial bonds and place the cult in the position of "father," demanding absolute loyalty.
This overstepping of boundaries is in fact one of the signs that it is a cult and not a benign religion.

Before attempting to persuade someone that life evolved, first discuss genetics.
by fulltimestudent inthe reasoning behind the thread''s title was developed by a team looking at the teaching of evolution.
"the team, led by professor laurence hurst at the milner centre for evolution, university of bath hypothesised that since core concepts of genetics (such as dna and mutation) are so intimately linked to the core concepts of evolution, then priming students with genetics information might help their understanding of evolution.

DJ: Cults say: "The world will make you choose between us and them. They will give you no middle ground. You must choose us ... to survive!"
Which is tragically ironic because cults hypocritically do exactly the same thing!
Normal, healthy relationships are not threatened by other appropriate relationships.

Great thread FTS!
Scientific literacy is woefully lacking among the general population, and that is a serious problem. It is impossible for anyone to be an active participant in modern society without having at least a passing level of knowledge of scientific facts and methods. Full, active citizenship in a democratic society depends upon all members to have at least a basic, minimal understanding of what science is and how it works. Diverse topics ranging from climate change to stem cell research, from the global collapse of bee colonies to the search for exoplanets all require at least some fluency in considering scientific data and evidence as well as the arguments which develop from them.
In the United States, many states have adopted the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for science education in public schools.
One aspect of these standards is an increased focus on teaching molecular biology and genetics. Although the NGSS support genetic literacy better than existing standards, there are still "gaps [that] exist in the coverage of essential genetics concepts, most worryingly concepts dealing with patterns of inheritance, both Mendelian and complex" (Lontok et al, 2015).
For anyone interested in a deeper dive, here is a detailed, scholarly analysis: "Assessing the Genetics Content in the Next Generation Science Standards."

Uninvited...again...
by Anders Andersen inso a week or so ago we received an invitation for a jw friend's wedding anniversary party in the mail.it was addressed to 'the andersen family' (and not just mrs. andersen & baby andersen) which was pleasant of course, but not a huge surprise given the type of person who said friend is.. however, i already prepared myself to be uninvited after all.
some time ago, there was a congregation farewell party/get-together.to my surprise, i was invited too!
an elder specifically came over to my house to tell me.then some weeks later, he visited again, being terribly sorry but the invitation was revoked as the congregation got concerned over my possible presence.. with that debacle in mind, i wasn't surprised to receive a message from my friend 'hey are you at home?

Inviting and then uninviting. What's wrong with these people? Oh, I know: they are in a high-control, authoritarian cult and are afraid to think and act for themselves.
Cowards.

last convention before global attack on witnesses
by Phoebe inso it's not enough that i'm dealing with post traumatic stress/anxiety and panic attacks all related to my life as a jw (50 years baptized -- i stopped going a couple of months ago) at 3 a.m. i get an email from the other side of the world.
'you have to go to the convention.

Sanderson says we must watch the news, things are happening
First bit of advice: don't read your emails in the middle of the night.
You are suffering from an induced phobia. But the good news is that you are literally afraid of nothing! Think about that long and hard.
The WTBTS has proved that they don't know what they are talking about. They've been wrong about everything for centuries.
Sanderson is right. Things are happening. Some are bad, but most are good.
FACT: this is the best time to be alive in all of human history.
You will get better!
