  recommendations to the jehovah’s witness organisation.

  recommendation 16.27. the jehovah’s witness organisation should abandon its application of the two-witness rule in cases involving complaints of child sexual abuse.. recommendation 16.28. the jehovah’s witness organisation on should revise its policies so that women are involved in processes related to invesation and determining allegations of child sexual abuse.. recommendation 16.29. the jehovah’s witness organisation should no longer require its members to shun those who disassociate from the organisation in cases where the reason for disassocia on is related to a person being a victim of child sexual abuse..

  There IS prescriptive and descriptive ways of viewing grammar ... and politics and religion too, I suppose!

  I'm definitely a descriptivist.

  Here's another article I think you'll enjoy by one of my favorite language mavens, Harvard professor of psychology and linguist, Steven Pinker:

  For your edification I have excerpted a juicy tidbit:

  Though bad writing has always been with us, the rules of correct usage are the smallest part of the problem. Any competent copy editor can turn a passage that is turgid, opaque, and filled with grammatical errors into a passage that is turgid, opaque, and free of grammatical errors. Rules of usage are well worth mastering, but they pale in importance behind principles of clarity, style, coherence, and consideration for the reader.

  Life is like that, a fleeting series of images and other sensations: sounds, smells, tastes, and feelings--both physical and emotional.

  Some are beautiful, others painful. Most are quite mundane and ordinary in most ways, but all are quite extraordinary when one comes to know more about the biological and electro-chemical processes involved in our sensations and cognitive processing of the vast amount of information that comes into our brains moment by moment.

  It is truly astounding.

  Stevenson expressed it simply yet eloquently.

  Do you or did you experience too much intrusion into your personal life by the elders in your congregation?

  i ask this question because i have personally experienced first hand the control and intrusion into my personal life by the elders at our hall; and for virtually trivial things or non issues!

  what's more, i regularly hear of individuals moving to other halls because they were stumbled by the thought police....er, i mean these elders.. have you had any such experience?

  have your elders been a bit ott over trivialities?.

  This is absolutely a major problem with this religion. If you're not careful and stand up for yourself, the elders can ruin families.

  By the way, there are two ts in “getting.”

  It was surprising how many sources I had to consult to know if it was “ts” or “t’s” or “Ts.”

  But there was no disagreement about the word “getting.” You spelled it wrong.
