  i just finished reading a long article about the young people wanting to break free of islam in australia and the problems they face in leaving their high control religion.

  the similarities between us and them is quite clear, as is how they woke up.

  i have been rereading a lot about rutherford lately; about his personality and the kind of person he was.

  i have come to the conclusion that he was a lot like donald trump.. he was an accused womanizer.. he was a narcissist with a self inflated ego.

  he claimed to be persecuted by the media all the time.

  That being said, I'm still waiting for a specific answer to the questions that Cofty, Sparrowdown and I posed:

  • What is it -- right now (or 2016,if you prefer) -- about America that isn't great? (Be specific.)
    
  • When was this time that the word 'again' implies? When was it exactly that those who endorse this slogan believe that America "was great"?
  • What does a "great" America look like? Is it a reference to the fifties? Eighties? Pre 911? Pre political correctness?
    
  • Why exactly do they think that America "was great" then, but not now?
  • What values and beliefs are implicit in accepting this slogan and everything that goes with it?
  • Correspondingly, what values and beliefs does accepting this slogan require a person to thereby reject?

  Jehalapeno: Basically, any time before Social Media was invented is when America was Greater than it is now.

  So we should get rid of social media to make America great again. Is that right?

  This is not true!

  As reported by PolitiFact, on May 18th, 2018 :
  

  "Trump has donated his quarterly salary to various federal departments and projects including to the National Parks Service to restore battlefields, the Department of Education for children's camps and the Department of Health and Human Services for a public awareness campaign about the dangers of opioid addiction and the Department of Transportation for infrastructure projects."

  Getting a paycheck and donating it -- to causes which Trump chooses and that further his own political agenda -- is clearly contrary to the erroneous claim that Trump "works for free."

  There is plenty of objective evidence to show that Trump is benefiting financially in many ways from his presidency, but I'll leave that to others to sort out.

  Please get your facts straight.

  Suggestions for horror/supernatural movies

  hey guys, so now that i’m pretty much atheist and i’m not scared of demons or supernatural things, or bring them into my house by watching movies or reading books about them lol, i defenitly want to watch a few scary movies.

  i’ve always loved scary movies, but as witness, you don’t get to watch many since they need to be pg-13 and have no spiritism in it lol.

  does anyone have any suggestions?

  Um, I'm thinking maybe you don't know what the horror genre is about actually!

  You might as well have asked, "I want to watch some porn but only without any sex in it."

  OTWO: I believe the underlying message behind "Make America Great Again" is nostalgia for a pre-Civil Rights time.
  

  This comment by OTWO, raises some important and often ignored questions that need to be asked about this "Make America Great Again" slogan:

  • When was it exactly exactly that those who endorse this slogan believe that America "was great"?
  • Why exactly do they think that America "was great" then, but not now?
  • What values and beliefs are implicit in accepting this slogan and everything that goes with it?
  • Correspondingly, what values and beliefs does accepting this slogan require a person to thereby reject?

  I have some very specific ideas about the answers to all of these questions, but would be very curious the hear the answers from members of our forum.

  so miss america pageant is going to remove the swimsuit and evening gown parts of their pageant because they have decided it's demeaning to women.

  i guess it will just be women in overcoats telling us they want world peace .... bravo, we all applaud, right?

  maybe we shouldn't be so quick to do so .... what is it really saying?

  Scratch, thanks for sharing the John Oliver clip from 2014. I laughed so hard I had tears in my eyes!!!
  

  The references to and clip with Trump beginning @ 4:50" are very ironic considering where he was then (when this video was made), where he is now and all that has transpired since.

  What a world!
