The Motive of the Governing Body
by jwfacts ini have been quiet of late, developing other interests, happy that there are a whole group of people producing great resources.
however, i found some old emails from ray franz that promoted me to write an article that answers a question i regularly receive.
it is in regards to the motive of governing body members.

Pete Zahut: The unforgivable thing however, is the way [the GB members] never admit outright that they were wrong and that Jehovah isn't telling them what to say and do.
Agreed.
It is absolutely unforgivable in light of the fact that any rank & file JW who dares to disagree or even question the GB will be labeled an “apostate,” disfellowshipped and lose their family and friends!
It happened to me as it has happened to countless here among us.
Let’s review: It’s a cult!

“If [we] have been able to question Watchtower's claim to be the truth, possibly leaving at tremendous personal loss, there is no reason they [the members of the GB] have not as well, except for reasons of selfish denial.” —Paul Grundy
Excellent article, Paul. Thanks for sharing!

What Do You Think Of Fining People For Not Wearing A Mask?
by minimus insome towns in massachusetts are fining people 1000 dollars for not wearing a mask 😷 outdoors.
starting wednesday, the governor mandates everyone from 2 years of age up, must wear a mask or get a 300 dollar fine!.
of course some governors are recommending that you rat out anyone that doesn’t follow their orders.. i don’t like it!👎🏿.

People who won’t wear a mask in public (and I don’t mean taking a walk with no one else anywhere near them) are selfish and foolish. The put others at risk unnecessarily.
Here’s an excellent OpEd by Tom Ridge about the recent protests:Tom Ridge was the 43rd governor of Pennsylvania and first U.S. secretary of Homeland Security. He served as an infantry staff sergeant in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star for Valor. He is a registered Republican.

E-MAIL Shepherding during Covid stay at home
by wannabefree inmy wife is getting regular emails from the cobe ... you know we have the truth, the world is in the dark, we're special, hang in there, read this encouraging watchtower ... blah blah blah ... just wondering if these are coordinated from org.. recent mass email example .... " .... an excellent watchtower article in the july 2020. it is entitled “be convinced that you have the truth”.
the scripture is from 2 tim 3:14. we are to continue in the things we have learned and be persuaded to believe.
reflect for a moment what appealed to you about the truth which drew you to jehovah.

Has Anything Positive Come Out Of This Coronavirus Isolation For You?
by minimus ini guess you could make a case of more families being together although that might not be the best situation.
less cars and pollutants mean we can breathe better.
if you were ever uncomfortable in crowds, this could be good news.

Well . . . I learned that—beyond a shadow of a doubt—none of the elders in the local congregations give a shit about me because none of them have even tried to contact me recently despite direction from the GB to contact "Inactive Ones."
In fact, it's been over five years since an elder checked-in just to see how I was doing!
For context: I'm am merely faded, not DF'd or disassociated. I've lived in the same house for nine years and have the same phone number and email address I've had for over 20 years. Before I faded, I was a JW for 25 years, 20 of which I was an elder. So there's that!
Let's review: It's a cult!

US Letter Read Sunday 4/26 at Meeting - No KH Use and No Field Service Indefinitely
by JWTom inthere was a letter read sunday at our meeting that mentioned some parts of us are starting to open back up.
however, regardless of things opening up that no kingdom halls should be used for any meetings of any kind.
also, no door-to-door ministry or any form of in-person ministry is allowed.
-

I would think this would be really difficult for the hardcore, all-in, Kool-Aid drinking JWs.
All of their lives they’ve been told that the two most important activities are being at the Kingdom Hall and going out in “the ministry.” Now they are being told to NOT do either until further notice.
The cognitive dissonance must be intense.

Thanks for the update, Petra.
It pays to be cautious in this regard. But it is interesting that two forum members (JWTom and FedUpJW) both say they personally heard that announcement.
