i mentioned rutherford's cadillacs to my study conductor, and he said maybe rutherford was able to purchase them because he was independently wealthy.
were they purchased from his own personal wealth or with the wt funds?.

as many of you know, i made the "big news" statement when kerry louderback-wood's scholarly article about watch tower's blood misrepresentation that was published in the journal of church and state was just about to be published.
i was excited about it because lives were at stake and weve never had such an article before to be able to use to show how the watch tower misrepresents the blood issue through its literature and people die because of it.
Little steps eventually gets you where you want to go...

WAnted to add:
I wish more of these sites had a facebook "Share" button.
On eof my points was that years ago my Mother in law (JW) was told by her Elders that it was OK to associate with me..now they discourage it..(putting it lightly)..another one of their changes..
I have to say though that the JW and I that recently had it out so to speak over the JW's (on facebook)is still talking with me even tho she knows my view of the witnesses and that I am disassociated..one of the few that thinks for herself..
I think that is why I alway liked that family out of many.

a short update on my situation.. i am still in, trying to help my family to see the light.
my wife is open to critisize certain aspects of the wts, reads wt articles with a critical mind, but she still views them as gods org, and at times can get quit defensive about it.. last night though, she seemed devastated about a program she watched, reagrding pedophiles (dateline i guess).
she was very disturbed, even to the point of being depressed.
I got the same response with my JW mother in law when I taped it for her and let her watch it. (She asked to see it as it aired on a meeting night).
She commented that she didn't know any pedophiles in the organization then asked us all if we did ( I didn't answer)..so that was that..Jehovah would take care of it!
No other reply needed..

thetrueone, it is in the thread about the Feb 15 WT. I looked it up and then pasted it to my post.
Quote from 2-15-11 Watchtower:
"15 Do we share Jesus’ view of those who
have become set in their lawless course? We
need to give thought to these questions:
‘Would I choose to associate regularly with
someone who has been disfellowshipped
or who has disassociated himself from the
Christian congregation? What if that one
is a close relative who no longer lives at
home?’ Such a situation can be a real test of
our love of righteousness and of our loyalty
to God"
It goes on to give examples.
Someone gave me a link to a place where you can download the latest Magazines (Watchtower and Awake)
I can't post a direct link but this is the address if you want to cut and paste:

avoid abortion threads.
they're only for folks to piss on each other.
now i'm off to watch "modern family".
TM..my list for Wed night also..
Regarding staying away from "Certain subjects"..
A wise suggestion..I should follow it!..
Snoozy..
in my mind, every child that undergoes an education system, whether it be a within the family, a basic pre-school kindergarten type structure, within a monitored school curriculum environment itself, or, as part of a further education programme, the emphasis should be on teaching people how to think critically, and for the common good of all.. if this was indeed the case, probably very few would succumb to mind-control techniques later on in life.
cults would struggle to dupe and recruit new members.
the cult leaders themselves, would derive little benefit from their evil mind games.
Vlll, that's not such a bad thing you know...
Funny things happens to the mind when you are dying that we will never truly understand. Maybe they have a better insight to spiritual matters than we do.
As far as the critical thinking goes, I think it wou dbe a great idea but I would suggest they look for kids that are displaying signs of being followers or loners..

i would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".
"15 Do we share Jesus’ view of those who
have become set in their lawless course? We
need to give thought to these questions:
‘Would I choose to associate regularly with
someone who has been disfellowshipped

This is what got me.
A few years ago my JW MIL asked her local Elders if it was OK to associate with me since I had disassociated myself,. The sent for a copy of my letter and verified I wasn't disfellowshipped (surprise) and said it was Ok but to not talk about spiritual things with me.
NOW...I am one of the lawless ones and not oto be associated with?
One of my facebook friends (JW) recently hooked up and I explained to her that I was no longer a JW and why. She continues to talk to me. I sent her a long message explaining what all I thought was wrong with the religion adn told her I was de-friending her to protect her (Being nice). She replied thatit ws my choice but she had no problems with being my facebook friend..
Apparently she didn't study her 2-15 Watchtower..

Thanks trueone..I remember that name.
I also looked up the Feb 15 WT and saw where they were coming down on their people associating even with those that have been disassociated now. (Including relatives) The Magazine article includes them in with the "Lawless" ones that are to be destroyed.
A few years ago my JW MIL asked her elders at her hall if she could associate with me and they told her yes but to not talk about the bible with me..They even got a copy of my disassociation letter. I guess now they consider me a 'Lawless One"...
Definitely a #5 on the list!
