my two oldest brothers, jim and ron, were coerced into baptism when they were but 10 and 11 years old.. .
they were indoctrinated heavily, of course, and they tried to toe the line and be good little jw boys as best two unruly fatherless boys could.
the nature of a boy won out and they both got into some mischief about a year later.
I saw the same thing happen to my husbands JW sisters two boys..both ended up being disfellowshipped. I wonder if your brother ever went for counseling? It surely would have helped with the guilt weight he carried.
I am so sorry for the loss of your brother..I know you must have a lot of pain. Was he a good brother?
My husband had a pretty bad childhood also it seems. He never spoke of it to me but his cousin who was practically raised with him told me many stories of what his Mom and grandma put him and his cousin through. It was pretty bad. Of course his Mom later went on to become a judgemental witness that never did anything wrong in her life..
I was so glad that this cousin came forth after my hubby died and told me the many stories. It made me better understand why my JW hubby did/said/acted like he did at times.
Again, so sory for your loss..
Hugs, Snoozy
edited to add: Concerning the pictures..they kind of turned my stomach because I too made my 3 children pose like that with the literature showing in a picture to send their non JW great grandma..so sad..
because of the other news stories, i don't know if this one got enough air time.
an international raid on boylover.com , catches criminals and sets children free.
it "shocks my conscience" that there is such a thing as child pedophilia rings, and that they are so well coordinated.
12 days to vacation and I'm leaving the country... and I won't be thinking about Jehovah's Witnesses. :-))

Is this of your own free will? (JK) Where you going? My daughter is in Madrid right now and loving it. Only thing is if their college student spanish speaking son isn't with them (He's going to college there this year) they are screwed..they know no Spanish..

suspects in this operation are aged between 17 and 82 and come from all walks of life. They include police officers, scout leaders and teachers."
Glad to see they admit this..I have been saying for years that the Boy scouts is a pedophile paradise! I am surprised about the Police and Teachers though.
So glad they are catching some of the perverts..I wonder if it just seems like the whole world of men are becoming perverted or is it jsut because of the large population that makes it seem that way?
In my opinion this is one of the results of our anything goes, if it feels good do it society..
And I still think we should ship all the pedophiles to a isolated deserted island and let them live/work/survive amongst themselves..

i'm 75 years old and am confused about life and god.
all explainations seem made up by some religious person or some written book that doesn't make any sense to me.
why doesn't a god just let us know that he exist in some way that all people could understand.
Ken, I too have felt this way at times...I often think, is this all there is?...

the society at the time believed that some demons or fallen angels were honest and could be saved and return to god's organization.
[6] angels and women, they believed, was channeled or "dictated" to the author by one such fallen angel who was honest and told the truth about pre-flood conditions on earth.
According to Rutherford there was nothing wrong with that publication. Let's remember that Rutherford was directed by angels
Did you mean Russell?
He believed many things not taught today by the witnesses.
That Jesus died on a cross
That Armageddon would start in 1914
As far back as 1883 he even preached about climate change and how the earth would slowly go back to paradise Eden like conditions, iincluding the Melting of Greenland's Ice sheet , the Artic and Antartic Polar ice caps would slowly melt and there would be a a general warming of the earth.
as of late i have been thinking about this.
my sig other and i have successfully faded, and the last kh i attended (cards were moved to) was like 8+ years ago.
i really do not care either way, however i have been asking myself as of late if i should.
Sinus, I did it for the same reason..I wanted them to know that I no longer wanted to be associated with them. I no longer agreed with their teachings or the way they treated their members..
I wrote them a letter to disassociate myself. At the time it was what I needed. now I see it as why even bother? They have no power over me that I would have to tell them what I am doing..
I would just quit going and leave it at that, especially if I had relatives in the religion.
But if someone had told me that back then, I probably still would have wrote the letter..
I also thought in doing so I could regain my earlier baptism of being a Catholic (being taken off the JW books so to speak)...

ps..I edited this to add that I had incriminating evidence against the local congregation at the time and wrote the info in my letter. Showing one reason why I was leaving. I wanted to add that NO ONE ever called on me after that. They didn' t want to stir the pot so to speak..
A few years ago my JW MIL asked the brothers in her congegation if it was OK to associate with me and they supposedly sent away for a copy of my letter. Upon receiving it they told her I had NOT been disfellowshipped but to not talk about religion with me.
Years later I wrote and asked for a copy of my letter ( Since the brothers had gotten a copy and I had forgotten to make a copy at the time).
My request was denied. (They didin't want me to have the evidence)..they said it was now their personal posession. I have been told I could probably get a lawyer and he could get me a copy but I figured it wasn't worth my money or my time.

i was so pleased to see the actual cards that caused all the trouble, after wanting to see it for so long, that i post it today.. first, the background in case anybody does not know the terrible events that happened.
in the late 1960's to early 1970's jehovah's witnesses were cruelly persecuted and subjected to the worst possible beatings, rape torture and death.
Talk is cheap..do you really think all that did any good?
In response to Nazi efforts to destroy the group, Jehovah's Witnesses became an island of spiritual resistance to the Nazi demand for absolute German commitment to the state. The International Society of Jehovah's Witnesses fully and publicly supported the efforts of its brethren in Germany. At an international convention in Lucerne, Switzerland, in September 1936, Witness delegates from all over the world passed a resolution severely condemning the Nazi regime. The international organization also produced literature denouncing Nazi persecution of Jews, Communists, and Social Democrats, criticizing the remilitarization of Germany and the Nazification of its schools and universities, and attacking the Nazi assault on organized religion

This is the ex JW view of what happened..according to the JW facts site:
this is the link to the article:
http://www.jwfacts.com/watchtower/malawi-mexico-oath-allegiance.php
The beginning of the article:
Religion becomes most culpable when its rules lead to the death of its followers. In ancient times this was as blatant as human sacrifice; in modern times it is subtler, such as forbidding medical treatment. Graphic representation of this in Watchtower history has been the devastating torture and murder of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Malawi during the 1970’s and 1980’s. Most disturbing is that the doctrine enforced in Malawi is misguided and was not applied consistently in different countries.
When reading Crisis of Conscience by Raymond Franz, chapter 6 titled “Double Standards” disturbed me more than any other. Here was explained how a Watchtower doctrinal principle that lead to the torture and death of 1000’s of Malawian Witnesses was excused for those in Mexico. Malawian Witnesses suffered unspeakable atrocities due to following the Watchtower’s illogical policy forbidding them to hold a political card in a one party state. During the same period, Witnesses in Mexico were permitted to bribe officials for a Cartilla card in order to escape military service.
This article outlines this blight on Watchtower history. It is one of the most distressing aspects of Watchtower leadership and has led many Witnesses to re-evaluate the wisdom of ascribing spirit direction to the Governing Body and following them without question.

I found what I think is a very interesting and question raising article about the card in Mexico..put some questions and doubts in my mind about the statements of ex JW's on the subject. Any further info would be appreciated!

The opening statement:
1.0 INTRODUCTION
We all know the story that Ray Franz tells and how Don Cameron and friends merely echo the story without ever taking time to even research it for themselves. Whatever anyone says negative about Jehovah’s Witnesses is always accepted by these apostapposers without question. Facts? Research? No way. Lets take the story and run with it. Lets throw out any and everything we hear and see what sticks. Truth is of no importance, only discrediting JWs is important.
Of course, they have as usual done this with the Mexico military identification card and JWs. Franz says it, and apostates everywhere like Don Cameron repeats it in their books or on their websites or on discussion boards never bothering to research anything about it. Well a little research reveals the truth that they have omitted.
