  What's the most insensitive thing you have been told while grieving?

  a few years ago my 21 yr old firstborn and only son died in an accident.

  i was an active jw at the time.

  in fact , i was at the meeting when it happened.

  My hubby was a JW..his Mom constantly told him and he repeated it to me many times that "He should not worry, (Because I wouldn't go back) that Jehovah will make him forget me and will give him a lovely new wife in the new system..."

  I think he was really looking forward to it..

  Too bad he didn't make it and now is not eligible to remarry ..(according to their teachings of resurrected can't marry.)

  When my hubby was dying from cancer my son decided it would be a good time to let us know he was divorcing his wife and mother of our 2 grandchildren and marrying a new gal as soon as the divorce was final. He was unhappy and his new gal was wonderful!

  Well she thought she could just move right into the family picture during this time and we could just throw any feelings we had for the old wife away. I voiced my unacceptance to my son and refused to meet her for a while and I was losing my husband in a month or two and really couldnl't care less if I ever met her.. I really loved his old wife and mother of my grandchildren.

  At hubby's memorial she came up to me with the old wife standing not too far away and hugged me like we just really loved each other. She Kept holding on to make sure that my old daughter in law saw it..I had to pry her arms off of me and went to my old daughter in law (ex by now) and hugged her and we cried..the new daughter in law got her nose out of joint and was pissed about that for a long time..

  She cause a big ruckus over that when I was grieving for my husband and my son was grieving for his dad..

  My son called a few days ago and informed me that he and his wonderfual new wife are getting a divorce after 8 years..

  Go figure..

  2 weeks after my heart attack my daughter called and wanted to borrow money..and would I deliver it to her as she was too tired to drive that far..

  And no she hasn't changed..and yes we are no longer on speaking terms..she got mad because I found out she was using money she borrowed from me (another time) for drugs. She called me a busybuddy and said I was no longer welcome in hers or her son's life....

  edited to add..so sorry, just caught this was supposed to be about grieving. All I can add is that it was about 2 years after hubby passed..I was still grieving..

  When I was in the hospital I had lost a lot of blood. So much so that the anesthesiologist took it upon himself to give me ringers in both hands..he said my blood count was dangerously low. The Drs that the JW's had recommended wasn't even paying attention or he just didn't care. He was the only Dr around at the time that would operate without blood. Sometimes I wonder if the bad Drs were the only ones that would agree because it was the only way they could get patients!

  Anyway I was so weak it took me over a month to get my strength back..Were the JW's there to help me? No. My non JW mom that cried when I became a JW was there to cook and clean and watch her 3 grandchildren (and my JW hubby).

  The witnesses said It was a miracle from Jehovah that I lived..I say it was a Dr that cared and a loving Mom that helped me recover.

  my favorite student is a 17 year old great kid named tyler.

  i teach band so he's been my student for 6 years now.

  My sister in law's (JW) 2 boys each went to Bethel..After they left Bethel they both moved as far away from their JW parents as they could and cleaned houses for a living. They eventually got disfellowshipped. I think it opened their eyes..

  AS far as I know they are still disfellowshipped. Knowing their parents tho I am sure they keep in touch with them ....

  What really ended the book study in private homes?

  it's been over 3 years since the book study in private homes was discontinued and some jws are still scratching their heads over it.

  although a letter was read to all congregations explaining that "book study night" would now be "family worship night", there was still much speculation among jws as to the real reason behind this decision (the great tribulation was about to start, jehovah was simplifying the lives of jws, to lessen the burden of poor jws who had no money for gas, etc.)...

  but as we all know, decisions like these from the gb invariably have some ulterior motive behind it... and discussion boards such as this one usually finds a way to dig up the truth for all to see... but after reading several threads on this subject, i'm really not sure we've uncovered all the facts yet.... so i have to ask... what do you believe really ended the book study in private homes?

  I didn't enjoy having the study at our house because people came with their sick kids and we would all get sick..also they would want to stay and chat and I had 3 kids to get to bed so they could get some sleep before waking up at 6 am. Hubby had to get up at 4 and that meant he could maybe get right to bed after they usually left..9 pm..and maybe get 5 or 6 hours of sleep. Not to mention making sure the 3 little ones didn't make a mess of the house and getting dinner for all and cleaning up and setting up the chairs..

  Then we also had the Ministry school and the Sunday meeting and field service and book studies..it was too much..way too much. But good for the WTBTS as they wanted to keep their followers close so they could control them..

  I studied for the meeting but rarely felt "spiritually " uplifted after the study.

  As far as the money goes..it didn't cost them a penny to have book studies in peoples houses..it actually saved them money..

  As far as suing goes I would think any injuries would fall on the homeowner..

  Unconditional love?

  whatever happened to "unconditional love"?.

  why is it today so many are willing to shun a friend or relative because they are just too much trouble or they do something that irritates them.... they claim that the other person is "not healty for them" or "harmful to their mental health" be it a relative or a goof friend.

  too ready to write them off so to speak.. what happened to the kind of unconditional love that loves in good and bad times..... i don't get it... i guess "unconditional love" doesn't exist anymore.

  i don't believe there is a heaven that so many religions teach, do you?

  it all sounds like a fairy tale made up to make dying easier or as a threat to make someone have a conscience... i got into a discussion about it with my jw converted to catholic daughter and she just couldn't believe anyone could feel like i do.

  i am glad she threw away the jw teachings and glad she believes in something so wonderful but i for one just can't.

I won't speak for anybody else but for me these teachings were nothing but a cruel tease and I felt it was unhealthy for ME to cling to them.   I also feel that the JW teaching of a paradise on earth is the same as Christendom's teaching of heaven and a hereafter. The only difference is that the JW's believe their "hereafter" is physically here on earth. Other than that the beliefs are similar. The JWs squander their present life daydreaming about a "future" when they can live the "real" life (so stupid!). The idea that somebody squander their present life like watching sand run through an hourglass in hopes that they will get a future one is just so insanely ridiculous to me."

  Jones' spokesman also said the singer is now in tip-top shape.

  "Sir Tom was released from hospital yesterday [Tuesday] and is now in very good health," he told the BBC.

  Jones was dogged by rumors of poor health recently after shedding more than 30 pounds, but he credited his skinnier bod to a strict diet and cutting out booze.

  He ended up having severe dehydration..

  Glad I went to see him when he was in the states..I don't see him back any time soon..
